In it’s second generation, the Presidium Gem Tester II provides a quick and easy way to identify diamonds/moissanites and separates up to 16 common colored gemstones based on their thermal conductivity with its clear and direct analog display. A newly redesigned inbuilt calibration reference and adjustment provides ease of operation both indoors and outdoors.
The Presidium Gem Tester II features the industry’s thinnest retractable probe tip (0.6mm) for testing colored gemstones as small as 0.02 carats. Coated gemstones can also be generally tested with PGT II.
*Does not differentiate between natural and synthetic colored gemstones.

Thank you for contacting Presidium Instruments. You can test on rough stones but kindly ensure to test on smooth surface where there is no impurities as it will give you unreliable results.

So it cost $300 to $500 and doesn’t even tell you exactly what it is 😩 Why though. I want to know if my gemstone is an emerald.

Send it to the Gia, they'll charge you $100~ and give you a certificate, but emeralds are stupid easy to distinguish natrual vs synthetic with a loupe and any gem tester.

This video is NOT clear. Each of the Presidium testers results are determined on where the indicator lands either the highest point, or the stable position and if it lands on two different lines. The PGT II the correct reading is the one taken at the highest point as clearly stated in the User manual. If you have the PDT II (Duo) tester the reading is taken at the stable position. Two similar machines but both reading points are different. Read the manual. Plus these machines are accurate, they are just 1 test of many you should take. You need to read many books, get advice, read the user manual and practice before you get some idea. There is no 1 test that can tell you this accurately. Even professionals conduct many tests before making a determination. There are so many things to consider, colour, the structure (patterns under microscope), temperature of the stone, if the stone was clean before testing, is the machine correctly calibrated, wheres the best spot to place the probe etc etc. Its not as easy as you think. Simply grabbing a Presidium and probing a stone is not enough, the Presidium is a great tool but you need to use many other tools/techniques to accurately determine what the gem is. Plus many stones not listed on the tester can fall under different categories. You need to understand what that particular stone is by understanding its chemical composition, colour, hardness etc, it takes many years to learn. But you can always take it to a Gemologist to test.

Well i bought it for a purpose and it's not working and fooling. Even not performing basic things, like digital meter is dead. Continues bipping
