I have two important questions, 1) when you were making your bow/bow limbs, what brand of Epoxy adhesive did you use? 2) How to choose which brand of Epoxy adhesive should be used?
@Helmbowman
@Helmbowman Жыл бұрын
I used “Skresin” epoxy that was available to me, the brand does not matter, only important thing is that epoxy is thin enough so that fibers can soak it easily.

The end result reminded me of horn strips? HORNBOW!!! Good work! I look forward to the seeing the bow. I am currently learning by messy mistakes haha. All the best, Simon

Nice work man 👌 do you think polyester resin would work? Or is low viscosity epoxy resin is better? In terms of flexibility and durability, i read that polyester resin have less flexural modulus than epoxy, and more proned to micro cracks, but they absorb better into the fiber strands than epoxy resin. Fyi: I really appreciate your videos, learning a lot from it 💪 thank you for sharing your work

I work with carbon fiber. Nice job, but i just want to give you a advise. You are using too much resin my friend, unnecesarily heavier and not the best properties at that ratio of fiber/resin. Ideally the best performance is arround 30-40% of the weight of the dry carbon added resin. Culcule of the resin is tipicallyi 1000g of resin/m2 of 1mm thick carbon. Then you can wet all the carbon on a table with a plastic and the just take the exess resin with a smooth spatula, it has to be wet but not floded with resin

@@Helmbowman I found following important information from internet: "Strength. Though either material is substantially stronger than steel, industrial carbon fiber is more than 20 percent stronger than the best fiberglass. Carbon fiber boasts a strength to weight ratio roughly twice that of fiberglass" So, I think, the carbon only limbs should be better than the fiberglass limbs. Compared with fiberglass limbs, the carbon only limbs will be stronger, lighter, faster, and smoother.
