Pressing the crushed olive paste to make extra virgin olive oil. The olive oil produced has a Free Fatty Acid of less than 0.2% making it within the top 1% of the very best extra virgin olive oils in the world

He should be slapping the paste on the disk handing them to the girl that is not doing anything. I would not be letting this happen. Slows production.

Yes. Grown in quite a few places. As are Bananas, Guavas, Chillies, Grapes for wine & table, Feijoa, Tamarillo, Passionfruit, Papaya, Citrus, Kiwifruit obviously.

I believe the mats are made of hemp. I've heard it mentioned several times in various olive oil videos and articles that use the pressed mat method of extraction.

I've been looking for the answer to the same question about what the olive press baskets were historically made from. I have read that in the western Mediterranean (Spain and Morocco) they were often made from esparto grass twine. But this grass mostly grew in the western Mediterranean. In the eastern Mediterranean, I'm not sure. Some here propose hemp, but I don't know how extensively the Romans and other people's used hemp. It could have been made from flax coarse tow fiber, with which the Mediterraneans were all well familiar.
