Our HOA had a gas line repaired at our pool. The Gas Company came back out to reconnect service and said there was still a leak. The repair company, retested and found no leak. A second company came out and gave us the valve that the first company had used. Like yours it was a 15 psi, but the inner dial plate was bent toward the glass across the 4 and 11. The dial indicator would stick on the metal plate and hold because it was stuck. Lesson learned, always use an undamaged pressure indicator.

I just piped over to the water heater today🎉🎉 following all ur videos. So before I continued my run I decided to do a pressure test up to this point. I just now started the timer 30 minutes. My goal I'd to have gas company come and turn my gas on after isolating the slab leak. So my family can receive hot water again. Then next weekend continue the run to my stove and dryer. So far so good. It's holding 15 psi 25 minutes to go

A couple of comments. Gas expands with heat. Therefore, your pressure will increase in the day versus at night. Secondly, for underground, yellow poly piping is now typically code in most places or wrapped metal piping using polyethylene tape.

Yes codes have changed but I stuck with the original design it lasted 80 years the first time and that is a good heads up to check the gage first to see if there is any damage! I have heard of another person having the same issue as well!

@@simplescents3309 That’s gonna cost another pretty penny hiring out! Of course it would not include the extra work for damages. They can’t fix anything but pipe, So they ruined everything else. Classic and typical. No joke! That’s what I’m talking about. I re-pipes my entire house, gas lines for under 600 and rented a machine for $200 to do the digging. They are definitely destroying people for fun. The sad part is, it’s usually not the contractor that shows up that gets all the money. anyway best to do it yourself if you can! You just saved yourself probably about 10 grand!

Thanks bro, you saved me $2000, had 2 different plumbing companies in Charleston SC try to bs me and claim I needed all new pipes. Called the inspector, gave them permit number, and he failed them for pumping it up over 10psi(local ordinance), though the plumbing company claimed it leaked. Tested it myself at 20 psi with 2 psi drop after 48 hours, and was able to attribute that to temperature drop.

Is there a reason why you painted the gas pipes?

Good question! Yes actually, I painted the pipes 3 times with metal outdoor paint. So the pipes last longer without rusting out under ground. Hopefully this helps!
