SAME. There’s something dark and brooding about him that feels off. Plus it sounds like she kinda just up and started her whole life over without him…that’s gotta cause some deep rooted trauma. He may have been old enough to follow the Bunny Davis case, if we’re thinking of why he’d kill her in such a similar fashion.

6:00 - when Barbara is looking through the files on Rusty’s desk, she wasn’t horrified or anything about seeing those images. I really think that she’s seen things like that before. From what I remember, she didn’t even flip any of them over to “hide her eyes” from them or anything. Makes me believe it’s not the first time she’s looked through his stuff. She could have seen the Bunny case files.

@@sceneinvaders okay, here's the thing, the book expands on Rusty's affair, he contemplates on why it happened, issues with his own father, ect. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't seen or read the material. But I think I would be extremely disappointed IF the guilty character is changed in this new series. The way it played out in the book/movie was phenomenal, creepy and left me wondering what next? Of course the what next was answered in the form of a 2nd novel called Innocent but that was years later. The series for me will all hang on the reveal. But to be fair the reveal in the book, which was written in 1987 with the film following right behind it in 1990 was for me more shocking. So maybe for this modern age it should be changed to keep it engaging. Did anything that I just typed make any sense? I hope I haven't ruined anything for you.

Dang. Going to have to stay out of this one. I read the book by Scott Turow when it came out in 1987. STILL remember it (how, I have no idea), so...Here's what happens...(KIDDING, but can't wait to see your reaction when you find out who the killer is). The Harrison Ford version was pretty true to the book.

@@sceneinvaders Haven't watched yet. Wanted to hear your first recap to see how close it is to the book. My wife didn't read the book (long before we met) so I'll have her watch too, and see how she processes it. Turow was the original modern legal thriller writer, as this came out 2 years before Grisham's first one. Grisham made the movie money, though. Turow writes his books (which I believe all take place in the same county/universe as Presumed Innocent) in first-person present, which can be a little jarring at first. So, the adaptations allow more points of view than the books, and can add interesting stuff. The Kindle version of Presumed Innocent is only $2.99 right now (ironic, since the county the story takes place in is "Kindle County"). Could be a good companion for the show.

I don't think the wife did it. Why would she tell him " you have to stop loving her" . She also seemed genuinely of the opinion that the affair was over. Strangely I always have to think about the living corpse that she played in America gods with flies buzzing around her. That distracts me alot or maybe I mix her up with a a role she played in Preacher

First time watching your show. This was a great breakdown! Presumed innocent has drawn me in for sure. While I think Rusty has serious issues. My gut says it is th e wife! Why? I think she has looked through his files before, and she was way to calm as she looked at pictures of horrific murder scenes. To me, the way she says to Rusty, «You have to stop loving her » has the vibe of someone who took that into their own hands. I think she knew her husband was obsessed, so she decided to remove the obsession. However, I do not think she knew the affair came back and the baby is throwing an unknown element into her plan. That is my initial thought. However, it is too early to tell. I subscribed, I will be back for the next show. Thanks.

Hi Dan, Jules & Bag Face , I saw the Excellent 1990 Movie Presumed Innocent w/Harrison Ford as Rusty, Bonnie Bedelia as his wife, & more good actors, in a Theater in '90, & This mini-series Is a Remake of the film, & is also based on Scott Turlow's book. So If this follows the Movie's plot as it has so far, I Know Who killed Carolyn, so the Mystery of this series is Spoiled for me.😕 But I WON'T reveal & spoil it for you all, and I may keep watching it anyway as I like Jake Gyllenhaal & Ruth Nega.😊

As soon as I saw the son I had a feeling it was him. He could have been very resentful and angry his mother was more passionate about work than her family or being a mother. He could have had access to her files and become obsessed with the images and memorized the hog tie. It would also explain why there was no sexual assault.

Yes, Carolyn’s son. I think Rusty’s son knew about the affair especially after episode three. When I rewatch episode one I realize he’s angry before he finds out about his dad’s affair. He also didn’t seem that shocked when Rusty confessed to them at dinner. I don’t think he killed her. I think he will be a suspect. Also, I hope it’s more complicated and it’s not Carolyn’s son. If the writing and foreshadowing is really good we will be surprised.

Also, I’m so annoyed that Rusty wasn’t aware enough to not take the case and confess to Raymond about the affair and his obsession so Raymond could protect him sooner. Seems too intelligent for that. Maybe the grief and obsession clouded his judgement. P.s. I love Raymond’s character and the ottoman moment!

I definitely think it is too early to tell who is guilty, but some characters definitely cast some suspicion right now. The first person that came to mind was the wife because of the same reasons you guys said. She just seemed too calm about the affair. I know her family is the most important thing to her and she is being strong for her family, but if she suspected the affair started again, I wouldn’t be surprised if she would get rid of the one person who is a threat to breaking up her family. We saw her snooping thru his files so do we really think she just took his word that the affair ended before and she didn’t check his phone records or anything from time to time to see if the affair started back up again? Especially since he admitted that he was basically stalking her. I just think that if she suspected that Carolyn was starting to become a threat to her family again, she may have done something about it. I’m also suspicious of Tommy, just a feeling because he just seems like he would go out of his way to crush Rusty. He just doesn’t seem like a person who seeks justice, he seems more like a person to create narratives to benefit himself. Rusty is also suspicious to me at this point. With all of his secrets coming out, even tho I think it is probably unlikely that he murdered Carolyn, he just hasn’t gotten a check mark in the innocent box from me yet. I’m very curious about this 2nd semen sample that Rusty just found out about from that previous case. I wonder if this is a clue to lead to Carolyn’s killer or just something that will be used to cast doubt on Rusty’s innocence. I’m curious to see what kind of clues we will get next episode!

I read the book and saw the movie. Here's a hint, the killer is in the lineage of Professor Moriarty. @@sceneinvaders Hello! Yes, I would be upset. As a mathematician, I really like the concept of "evil mathematician." Regarding casting, I prefer Brian Dennehy to Bill Camp, as he seems more virile, assuming the series follows the book and movie.
