The Fabolous Capital Theatre Passaic,New Jersey.... A great venue to see legendary rock and roll bands... I live in Kentucky now, but I was born and raised in nearby Paterson,New Jersey and had seen Adam and the Ants, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts,Wall of Vodoo , and countless other acts there it was an excellent time to be alive and I really miss the theater, which has been since torn down.... Such memories indeed!!!!

I was at the show too and during Precious (maybe at the 2:20 mark?) Chrissie picked up one of Martin's sticks and threw it into the audience, where thanks to my slow reflexes it hit me in the forehead. It bounced off, someone else grabbed it and I didn't even get to keep the fucker as a souvenir. Yes, that's what I remember most about the show. :)

The Capitol theater was a XXX cinema buy day and band haven by night. There were no dressing rooms. They connected a trailer to the rear exit door for the band to get ready in. The stage was literally 10 feet in length.

OMG James Honeyman Scott was just 25 when he died of heart failure through Heroin. He achieved so much in his short life. Sad to think of what else he would undoubtedly have achieved, had he lived. People with talent like his are so blessed. Why do they need drugs?

Its sad and true. I was in awe of James and he was superb in concert and he had such a great look. I too was so lucky to only just get out alive. When their brilliant 1st album came out i was burning the candle at both ends. What an album, and i saw the original band with James and Pete. A super show, all great musicians. Its maybe the pressure to be a rock n roll star of that standing back in the late 70s/early 80s meant having a double life, one being where we destroy ourselves.

Never saw the original line up - did see them on Halloween Night - where Chrissie had a duet with a long hair fellow at the time (rumored to be her boyfriend) at the Last of the Independents Tour - she smashed her tambourine into pieces - went flying into the audience - I stuck my hand out like a hockey goalie I am - and caught it - to this day - sits in my room along with my ticket framed. Good times.

No word of a lie, he attempted to make a move on me at an Adam and the Ants after party (Pretenders were playing following night and we luckily had backstage passes, Bronco Bowl) my brother a guitar player said sis that’s Martin Chambers let’s go say hello. We walked over, intros made, I said we are really looking forward to your show tomorrow. “Oh dahling, will you be there?” Said “Wouldn’t miss it” put his arm around me and said “promise to take care of me, luv” at which point I died bc here was the drummer of a band my bro and I idolized and the dude is hitting on me in front of my bro...at which point, after awkward pause, my bro said, “Dude, this is my sister...” as in please not in front of me...it was hilarious!!! Fucking kick ass band to this day...

i don't know who the pretenders, main lead guitarist is, but he was incredible. on all of the pretenders songs, a master of the guitar. i don't think he got very much publicity, but his brilliant guitar playing was the best part of all of the pretenders songs, as far as i'm concerned. kind of like elliot easton, the lead guitarist for the Cars. he was fantastic, but didn't get the publicity that okasik, and orr got.

That would be James Honeyman Scott - revered by guitarists and rock afficionados of all stripes. Not just his playing, but his arrangements and breadth of style and sound. He was a huge influence on Jonny Marr (and countless others), who'd warm up playing the solo on Kid. All superb players, the whole band was legendary, and one of those few with no removable parts, perfectly meshing.

I grew up in this era and these lead guitarist were incredibly gifted. Their work was epic. Elliot Easton, James Honeyman Scott and Berton Averre. Just to sit back and pick apart what they were playing within the context of the songs makes me shake my head. Thank god I had the pleasure to see these bands live in the early eighties when ticket prices were eight to ten dollars for general admission ticket. My girls still wear my old concert tour tees from this time and all I can do is laugh.
