His deal is that he is obsessed with being the most powerful, to the point that when he realized he could never become strong enough to survive a nuke he commits suicide by Truck-Kun in the hopes of getting isekaied, because magic is his only hope of becoming more powerful than a nuke, then he goes around with a bizarre form of dementia that lets him be oblivious of what is really going on in the big picture but his obsessive Batman style focus on the little details allows him to show up and get shit done anyway because he wants to be the most impressive specimen. BTW, the actual Batman has been banned from learning magic because it would turn someone like him into a villain, and Cid has no problem with how people see him so long as they think he looks cool and strong and impressive, so this is basically magic Batman isekai, I too highly suggest watching it.

The audience of the colosseum was ignored after the fight with iris concluded. Not sure if in the anime people now recognize Shadow as one of the forces in the darkness.
