This is my female Costa Rican Zebra Stripe Knee Tarantula (Aphonopelma Seemanni) that I got from a depressed friend. They are also known as the Costa Rican Zebra Or Stripe Knee Tarantula. This is a skittish slow growing new world terrestrial species. They grow about 5-6 inches as adults. The males live 5-10 years while the females live 20+ years. They can be quite docile to the point that some people do hold them but they will kick urticating hair & will bite if provoked. Their venom causes local cramping and discomfort but is not medically significant!
