Dude seriously thanks for uploading these shows. I gotta sit this tour out but I saw PL twice in 2011 (including Bonnaroo here in TN 🫠 #615tilidie ) and it's gloriously obvious he's evolved and grown during his journey to sobriety. DVS is back, better than ever, and his band makes the Soundship Spacesystem experience a truly life-changing one even for me just watching a stream 😌

I keep coming back to this set - 45 days later - and it's one of the better ones for me. End on S1 / beginning of s2 is such a amazing run , and head nod freedom to wrap is the business. Such an amazing tour. Hope someone was making a documentary - just legendary fall run from PL crew.

Amazing stuff. Remember seeing Derek when he was first starting out in a crowd of about 50 of just our friends. What an evolution of sound

Can someone please explain to me what’s going on here? We have a DJ, with a live band. How does that work? Is he capturing and looping from the band?
@birchtree22746 ай бұрын
As an old punk in awe of new music, my answer to this question is "dunno -- alchemy? Who cares". The stuff I hear these days is what we would have pulled straight from our synapses had we been able to back then. Anyone who claims music was "better" in my day needs to clean their eardrums. Technology has changed music, but it's all in a good direction
@Toastercookie6 ай бұрын
Nobody is DJing here in the traditional sense, think of it more like a jam band. Derek in the middle is kinda like the conductor, he's laying down base loops from his tunes and then everyone else is jamming over it
@henrydaugherty40066 ай бұрын
Interesting. Thanks for the info
@FunkItBlog2 ай бұрын
The way I see it Derek is the master controller, controlling the underlying beats/tracks, tempos, effects, drops, etc. and everyone else laces their thing on top. Captain of the Swirl Bridge.
