I remember - 15yrs old in my friend's bedroom, we were talking about how my aunt (7yrs older than me) used to wake me up when I was a kid as she's coming back from a rave. She would turn on Children of the Night and give me a glow show. My friend and I searched "Rave" on KZfaq and found Pretty Rave Girl. We then turned to each other and decided we were going to find a rave and go that weekend. This song is so nostalgic for me. It started my raving years (which wound up being many years of drug abuse) and thus started many years of memories and feelings I'll never forget. Clean and sober now (31yrs old) for 3yrs.

this comment makes me realize how young i am hehe (15, turning 16 in july), sadly nobody in my family has the same interests as me. and i’m far too self conscious to dress how i really want to dress (emo/scene raver-ish and/or cosplaying characters i like). i wish i could have an aunt as cool as yours tbh (also congrats on being 3yrs clean! i wish nothing but the best for you ^_^)

@initech-employee Honestly, what I've come to realize is... well that saying is very true. "You regret the risks you don't take, more than the ones you do." Despite my aunt being so close in age, we are/were VERY different people when it comes to our interests. By the time I started raving she was long done and was already out 90% of the time with her boyfriend. So I had the same situation as you. Don't let that hold you back. Start out small if you aren't comfortable. Buy small pieces and just add it to your regular wardrobe. Slowly start adding things. Eventually (VERY quickly) you will see that no one really cares. It helps make you you. Wear what you want, and embrace your individuality. Express yourself through your wardrobe. And wear it while you can! Your metabolism slows waaaay down in your late 20s, so if you don't try it out now, you may not get the chance to fit into what you want to wear later. Trust me, I was full on cosplaying at anime conventions, wore emo/rave clothes to school every single day. I didn't give 2 shits. It made me who I am today. People .ay have things to say here and there, but what does that do? Absolutely nothing. Because you are and will be far more unique and interesting than their conforming selves. These are the years that help you develop your own self identity. It's your time to experiment, and help you explore what you do and do not like. What you do and do not stand for, and experience many things. The experiences you have now will help form who you become. So delve in, and keep an open mind. Don't let anyone scare you into missing out. And if your parents have something to say - then just change in the washroom at school LOL

i also realized i'm pretty young after reading your comment haha. congrats on being clean, you must've put in a lot of work and that's always something to be proud of. i am lately in love with scene core and rave culture and i wish i could experience these things (i was born late 2000s, so it was too late for me unfortunately) my parents are very strict though, and i know i'd never be allowed 😭i was really happy you shared your story though, i love to hear all these personal experiences that everybody holds dear to themselves.

Hey everyone, I have this weird habit of reading through youtube comments whenever I do my homework. this is one of these moments. It always warms my heart to read comments and getting to see the connection that you all have to this song. I love seeing your stories and I hope you can take some time to see mine. I am unfortunately not part of your generation. I was born in 2003 in the US and was raised in Guatemala until I was 6. I don't think we were in our emo phase at the same, but even without that, I can feel the memories you all have. I only discovered this song a year or two ago, but even then this song always makes me think of my girlfriend, the love of my life for three years now. I know it's not the same nostalgia that you feel, I know that I didn't give my computer a virus by trying to download this song, but I know how emotional this song can be, even though to most its just "dirty electronica music". This song means so much to me it's crazy... Back in high school, my homies showed me this song and from then on it was our anthem for partying and going to electronic shows. So this song brings back so many memories its nostalgia overload.. Happily, the thoughts are always ones that make me feel wonderful
