"Preußens Gloria" ("The Glory of Prussia" or "Prussia's Glory") was
written in 1871 after the Kingdom of Prussia's victory in the Franco-Prussian war, which led to the unification of the German states into the new Prussian-led German Empire. As part of the victory parade of the returning troops, the march was performed for the first time in public in Frankfurt (Oder), where Piefke's garrison was based.

I know. What a pity! I would have loved to see the German Empire prosper under him as Emperor until 1905! He could have encouraged liberal reforms and could have made a stronger Alliance with Britain so that Germany would have a more powerful ally in 1914 and did not suffer that much from the fact that it was encircled. Wilhelm ll would have become a better Emperor, since he could have learned governing like a constitutional monarch by his father.

What a shame, My Prussian heritage is important to me more than it ever has because I recently was shown my family's ancestor history book that has been passed down for quite a while and I made the shocking discovery that I am distantly related to General Helmuth von Moltke. I listen to this march like a true Anthem. Every time a hard day awaits me, in the morning, I listen to this march. I leave with confidence, optimism and a great work force. It is incredibly mobilizing and energizing.

This is one of the finest German military marches! Absolutely wonderful! BTW, the painting reproduced here is by the great Anton von Werner and represents Kaiser Friedrich III (in white Kürassier uniform) at a reception in the Berliner Schloss, the little man on the right is the painter Adolf Menzel.

I marched to this in British army ,trooping the colour 1984 I was a grenadier,after the slow march around the parade ,first march is Prussian glory,this was when guards looked liked guards

Geld wird in aller Welt verpulvert, deutsche sind pro Kopf ärmer als halb Europa, deutsche Sprache verliert und auf dem Rückzug, deutsche Unis dritte Liga weltweit, Armee im Arsch, Wissenschaft komplett ideologisch, politisch einem Führerstaat näher als einer Demokratie, Konsumterror, Vasallenstaat, Steuer und Bürokratieweltmeister, Grenzenlosigkeit, Parallelgesellschaften überall, Gesinnungsethik überall etc. Mein Gott - machen sie doch die Augen auf. Was muss noch passieren, dass Leute wie sie der Propaganda und Wohlfühlwelt entsagen?

Thank you for this song dr.ludwig, I love this Prussian song and how it really brightens my day. It's one of the reasons that made me love German culture so much and how important William I and Bismarck were for us to have this incredible culture. I think if the USA wouldn't have joined the war, Germany would have won in the east and have a white peace (no one wins) in the west. Another way is, that Germany attacks Russia harder at the beginning and only defends the border in the west. Maybe England would join only later if Belgium isn't attacked.

How merry it would be to live in the 19th century. No leftists or cultural Marxists, only revolutionaries that were executed if they did something against the state and they were a small minority really.
