Looking for a way to prevent grass build up under your mower deck? Check this out!
A little over a week ago I applied Fluid Film to the underside of my mower deck. I’ve seen many people say it comes in handy for not allowing grass to stick and clump up under your deck. Well I’ve put my machine through some extremely wet and tall grass and now it’s time to see how well it worked! I picked up a can of this stuff from Lowe’s for about $11.00 and I must say, I’m impressed. Reduced clean up time and definitely made the deck cleaner. Check out the video and don’t forget to hit that subscribe button! Thanks y’all! Let me know if you have any questions!

Awesome video, let's make sure those companies that are taking a few mils of metal off every year or two don't gouge us for new decks too often! I wonder if CRC 6026 would work any better or worse. According to the Project Farm tests, it dries and creates a waxy cosmoline coating that doesn't attract dirt and such as much as Fluid Film, but being dragged in dirt roads is different. I use the 6026 for under my truck and the Fluid Film for harder to reach areas as it's a bit thinner and seems to spray better in tough to reach places. This is all really good stuff though and is one of those ounces of prevention!

I've been using it all summer this year. Stuff is amazing. Makes hosing off a breeze even after wet grass stuck on it for a couple days. @ProgressiveLawnService
@ProgressiveLawnService 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! It will technically “dry” but it leaves a slight coating for awhile under there. It doesn’t last super long, I would say applying this stuff a few times a year would be the best option. Just so much moving grass and debris under there when mowing it really beats it up and removes it quick versus applying it to the underside of a vehicle.

The key to maintaining a clean deck underneath is having very sharp blades. 10 lawns is way to far to go without sharpening. Although, the zero turn mowers are much more difficult to maintain and clean out from under.
@ProgressiveLawnService
@ProgressiveLawnService 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve had to stop every other lawn before and drive the mower onto the ramp of my trailer half way on just to scrape under the deck. Would be a little more tricky to change the blades but yes you are right.

@@ProgressiveLawnService since I’ve started sharpening the blades on the bench grinder, then using a file on them in the bench vise, the lawns look so much better, and little to no grass stuck to my deck. But it’s a lot of work to do that and maintain it that way. I have four sets of blades.

Probably a better question (for many of us especially with cheaper “homeowner” machines made of thinner metal) than “does Fluid Film keep the grass clipping from sticking to the deck?” is “does Fluid Film keep the acids and moisture in the grass clippings from penetrating through the oil, paint, and into the steel and causing rust?”. I would say yes. I will be doing a deck clean up and service soon. I know the underside of the deck has surface rust so I plan to wire wheel off the heavy rust and brush on a coat of bar and chain oil onto the bare metal. It tends to be a little “stickier” than Fluid Film.
