Hey Kajun. Yeah, for sure. They were rolling in waves accross those frames. I did the same thing on hive #4 and #20. I had to go back the next day on #4 and try again. I found her in the bottom. Took me two days to get through them all. It's still a little early for some where I left them alone with dry queen cups.

Privet is starting to bloom here. If we can dodge these storms for a while, we should get lots of nectar. Lots blooming here. My best hive last year already filled a medium. The rest are just getting it in. Take care.

This bearding thing is contagious. 2 of mine are strong but not really overpopulated. They have been bearding like mid summer. Another challenge of beekèping in Oklahoma!

Hey Jon. It was a little strange. All I can think is the reducer was restricting some air flow. I usually have them off by now. We've had a couple good forage days here, and I thought I could see some Alfalfa blooms when I drove to work this morning. Thanks for watching.

If you have one of those jester nuc boxes you may want to use that when you pull frames with queen cells. That way you know where they are and don't have to repull the frames a second or third time and if you want to eliminate cells. You have all the frames in question in the box to deal with before putting them back in the hive or using them to make splits.
@JeromeBeeFarm
@JeromeBeeFarm 2 ай бұрын
That's a good idea. I've been wanting to get some of those temporary nuc boxes. I have some cardboard ones, but the lid wouldn't work well for that, and the frames drag on the edges. Thanks for the tip.

Did you remember to remove the swarm cells from the frame that had the Queen in the nuc?
@JeromeBeeFarm
@JeromeBeeFarm 2 ай бұрын
I did on one of the frames, but I can't remember on the other. I will check it this weekend. Seems like there may have been an uncapped one on there. If there are some in there, what I've experienced is the workers will tear it down, as they think they've swarmed and have a good laying queen.

Yeah, I was lucky to find that queen in all those bees. I would have tried again later though if I didn't find her. Or I may have done the 50/50 thing. I sure hate to bust apart a strong hive like that. It's a good honey producer. Thanks for watching!

Hey Bowhunters. Yeah, they were about ready. I'll check it again this weekend and work on the cells after they are capped. Maybe transplant some. I think the hive #5 is queenless, so I can transplant a couple in there without losing any of the population for the nectar flow. Thanks for watching.

Unless you got rid of all the cells in split they will swarm ,they already made their mind up and the number of cells in the queenless one could cause you headaches with cast swarming because of the number of cells they had made , I’m not sure how this is going to pan out , bees have a mind of their own despite intervention , a follow up video would be nice to see how things are going. Cheers .🍻p.s the bearding I’m thinking is not just because they are big in population ,my thoughts are they are also temperature controlling their hive by having to be outside it’s not over heated inside. 👍
@JeromeBeeFarm
@JeromeBeeFarm 2 ай бұрын
Hey Fishmut. That nuc won't swarm, they've been simulated as a swarm, so they are good. If there's a queen cell in there, my experience is they will take it down, or kill any other queens. I will go in the main hive later after they are capped and reduce the number of cells in there to 2-3 of the nicest largest ones and if I can cut some out, I will use them for other queenless hives or more splits. Thanks for watching.
