are they still/scheduling doing the Olympics like it's a 2 week grand slam? I think they should play the singles week 1 and the doubles week 2- that way, singles people a=can leave and start US Open prep... In track and swimming, they don't mix the team events/relays with the individual... plus- if you did tennis this way- you might get more stars in the doubles.
@anujpramanik1819Ай бұрын
@@user-pz1so2xu8j it will start on 27th July (Saturday) and end next week on 4th August (Sunday). So basically 1 week and 2 days.

Most of the top and big name singles players (Alcaraz, Nadal, Fritz, Paul, sinner, musetti, Hurkacz, Medvedev, FAA, De Minaur, Tsitsipas, Murray, Fernandez, Gauff, Pegula, Paolini, Collins, Kostyuk, Yastremska, Alexandrova, Boulter, Garcia, Sakkari, Vondrousova, Muchova, and Krejicikova) are playing doubles as well mixed doubles (Swiatek, Hurkacz, Zverev, likely Pegula and/or Gauff,).

Olympic Games are something really special. You REALLY represent your country and play with national emblem on your chest. If you win, you will hear national anthem and see national flag rising on a flagpole. And you have only three chances on average during whole career to achieve this. I find it sad there are players who don't care about playing for own country. There is more essence in tennis than just money and ranking points. BTW - some national Olympic associations pay prize money to the athletes for every medal won during Olympics.

It will be interesting Tennis!

to be honest, it would be a shame for anyone to withdraw without a decent reason. Tons of great players would go to great lengths for another chance to win for glory, for their country, for their legacy. Those who say that the olympics tennis gold isn't important, tell that to Djokovic who was crying after losing. Or Andy Murray who won gold and completely turned into a different level of player.
@jxod4296Ай бұрын
Olympics is important but they’re not as highly regarded as the slams or other big tournaments for various reasons. First, olympics don’t offer any ranking points. Second, they don’t give out monetary incentives and third, as what Martina said, it disrupts the summer schedule to prepare for hard courts. At the end of the day, tennis is a profession and players prefer to earn a living. With regards to Djokovic, the olympic gold is the only piece missing in his resume. For younger players, they probably don’t care that much as they will have more opportunities in the future.
@DonLee1980Ай бұрын
@@jxod4296 money-wise yes. not as highly regarded as highly of slams? lol. slam winners definitely care about olympic medals. there are 16 slams for every olympics.
@rener7940Ай бұрын
No why are u lying, Olympics can’t even be regarded as high as a grand slam, cuz it’s only best of 3. It’s treated like a masters 1000. So obviously it’s maybe as high as a masters title. Definitely even the atp finals is considered more important than Olympics
@telmoliciousАй бұрын
@@rener7940I actually think the Olympics are rated higher than the WTF. The WTF are criminally underrated imo. U never hear it mentioned in the goat debate when ppl stack up resumes but the Olympics always gets mentioned. Weird to me.
@telmoliciousАй бұрын
@@jxod4296They’ll have plenty more opportunities for slams than Olympics though. Olympics? 3-5 chances but sure.. if money is ur number 1 then u could care less.
