As Megan Rapinoe moves into a smaller on-field role in her final World Cup, the US Women’s National Team features bright, young stars at the forward position. Sophia Smith, Alyssa Thompson and Trinity Rodman are primed to break out on the big stage, just as veteran Alex Morgan did before them. Speaking of vets, Julie Ertz leads an experienced crew in the midfield, flanked by Rose Lavelle and Lindsey Horan. Just because they are fast doesn’t mean they will excel in soccer. There’s more to soccer aside from speed. Speed will not help if you lack the soccer iq and the skills to play soccer beyond just being fast

@@dolphmanity it's an interesting issue that Vlatko has to face. You have all of these talented players but you need to put them in the best situation. Horan should never play with Sullivan while Sullivan should only play with Demelo and Sanchez or Ertz and Lavelle

Will the USA media start giving the USWNT so much coverage when Europe surpasses inevitably? I highly doubt it, like when Lance Armstrong was ‘dominating’ the Tour De France it got so much Us Media coverage. Americans stop winning it and the sport disappeared from the mainstream of the USA.

I guess there are just some people that knows nothing but to troll. Move on, it’s 2023. Uswnt have already proven their worth. The women that played in that 2017 you’re talking about were retired players but that’s beside the point. Soccer is a game of skills but could also be a game of luck. Even the best teams in the world loses.

Midfield is world class BUT this is the weakest US Team I have seen for the last 3 decades. There is no Carli Lloyd, A-Rod, Wambach in attack defensewise no Shannon Box, Dahlkemper, Sauerbrunn, Krieger STILL the US always believe they are the best, and others fear and play weaker than usual. Also Germany is in quite bad form, Spain missing key players like their gk and Maria Leon. France missing Amandine Henry, Mbock, Katoto, Cascarino England, Norway, Brazil still the strongest with the US.

England is missing three very important key players Mead, Kirby, and Williamson. Germany has had a few bad games but I don't doubt they will still be quality at the world cup.
