Prey honestly just feels like Arkane's version in Half-Life 1 in terms of story.

I figured out that enemies respawn when you leave and then reenter an area...so I abused the shit out of that and farmed for resources from the corrupted operators and typhon. Made lots of Neuromods. The game gave me a way to create the upgrades of course ima abuse it. And in NG+ I'm gonna be completely decked out with all the typhon and human Neuromods.

Normal maps are textures used to fake the light of bumps and dents on low poly models. it's the most common way to have bump mapping it's the weirdly colored texture with a lot of blue...but there are different ways to have bump maps

its a space station for researching the aliens. why would they have a bunch of guns? the gloo gun and the q-beam are just regular tools improvised as weapons and the huntress boltcaster seems to be just a fun side project by the employees.

they do have a lot of guns, a lot of pistols and shotguns. which is all you would really need for a space station like that. that place is filled with valuable stuff so explosives like a grenade launcher are out of the question. its mostly close quarters so no long range stuff would be practical. also they wouldnt want to kill typhons if they didnt have to (since they are valuable research subjects) which is why there are things like the gloo gun, typhon lure, nullwave transmitter, and emp charge. one could make an argument for having an smg or maybe an assault rifle though

I disagree, prey 2017 is way better in terms of graphics/ gampeplay and story. Prey 2006 was still a good game, we dont live in 2006 anymore we live in 2017, the game has not evolved that much in 11 years but they did their best probably. Prey from 2006 gave me more an effect of playing an half life game.

We need to remember that there is a 11-year gap between the two games. Of course graphics must improve and gameplay must be deepened in one way or another. Gamers today no longer enjoy a single-player game with mere gun and run. Nonetheless, I would assume that both games are classified to FPS genre. From that point of view, Prey 2006 is a game you can have way more fun shooting, for which Kelthie gave us a comprehensive description.

yes ur right, prey 2006 had better gameplay for me, but Im not looking backwards really to the old games. The graphics in that time for prey were great.. some new games are good , some are bad every year imo. This year mass effect andromeda released , totally didnt like it because it was full with bugs/glitches so I returned it for the new prey game. We still need to wait for big game releases anyways, and hopefully red dead redemption 2 will be a masterpiece game like the first red dead redemption game. The prey game of 2017 is better in some aspects, like u can use alot of skills , some different weapons, they made the game aswell in cryengine. I think the problem nowadays is that they need to adjust a new game with good looking graphics to the consoles and pc so it wont cause any problems, and yes the PS4, xbox one are both weak consoles sadly. PC had alot of problems with Prey 2017 because it was probably not compatible with some videocards.. but yes since it took 11 years to make prey 2017 I think self it didnt took 11 years tbh maybe a few years they worked on it. It is not an great improvement of the prey game of 2006.

Well duh. Think about it. Your on a space station. The key words being "Space" and "station" you won't have any high calliber weapons like sniper rifles or chain guns nor will you have rpgs or frag grenades. This place was primarily a research station the only military grade weapon up there is the Q-beam. The shotgun, pistol, and stun gun are all security weapons well suited for a space station. This makes the game a lot more challenging in my opinion. And it makes a lot of sense physics wise.

well, I like prey 2006's weapons because they have no reloading animation & only by recharging them by the energy packs found in some levels of the sphere with ammo containers as they behave like man made weapons with a secondary attack & to the leach gun by recharge posts. the hunter rifle needs to be rechanged from killed hunters with crawler bugs crawling as they are spotted walking around in some locations as grenade types.

DooM 3 was an action game with some stuff from horror tropes... it's objective is shooting hell knight with a shotgun. the jumpscare was inefective but unharming of the experience (well now survival horror games are ALL JUMPSCARES and chase shit...DooM 3 became a full blown horror game compared to them) Prey was more narrative focus and had different game structures...

SCIFI RICE while the game certainly had it's misunderstandings of Cherokee culture (namely that it gives you super powers) at least it gave some Native American representation in video games. Apart from prey, name 3 games that came out in the last 10 years starring a Native American protagonist. There aren't that many. Besides that though, Prey also gave the main character a relatable issue that pertained to the situation many of these communities are struggling with now. The older generations want to keep their culture alive, but the younger generations just want to move on with their lives and be happy. That gave Tommy a relatable edge, and I think dropping both his story and his world after one game was a big mistake.

i have no problem with including native american people in video games. in fact that is probably one of the best things about prey. and there needs to be more native american people in games, i agree. but also, i think prey 2 would have been doing the same thing with dropping his story considering it happened on a completely different place starring a different character. the first prey likely wouldnt have been reference aside from some minor dialogue or maybe a mention about the thing being destroyed.

But you're right that it wouldn't be about him. Still, it would've been nice to see more of that world, namely how other alien species viewed the ones you see in the first game, and how they view humanity. That part really interested me.

the moment you little kids will realize that Prey 2017 is an inferior copy of bioshock that itself was an inferior copy of System Shock you will loose your mind. lol. sure prey 2006 is not perfect, but it was hella amazing (fuck zero g, it featured altered gravity and bizzarre level design) and the weapons was DELICIOUS to look and to use. the new one? uncreative weapons, uncreative levels, uncreative powers... sure it had bioshock soft rpg... that was already done in bioshock...and system shock...and deus ex... it's like saying a game is original and new because its a metroidvania.
