Fun fact: The Feral Predator (to my knowledge) actually broke one of the yautja's honor codes. It was established in the source material that if they come across a worthy opponent, they must de-cloak and face them head-on. Since the Feral Predator actually re-cloaked after the brother displayed being worthy and killed him while cloaked, he would be considered a bad blood and would be banished or killed. Side note: Take this with a grain of salt

Or i guess maybe thats why they keep on coming back :P Homosapien be badass.

I was one of the mechanics who worked on the animatronic heads and I'm glad you got the number of servos correct. I know that is a weird thing to be happy about but it was a crazy amount of servos to get all the movement that was wanted. All of the mechanics were really happy with how much the mandibles were able to move and twitch. Trying to fit all those servos into the head was a challenge in itself and I have to give it up to Dane for putting in the time while he was quarantined in Canada before shooting started to train for being able to carry the weight of the head.

I loved how tight the script was and how everything was set up to help Naru defeat the Predator! The orange flower, the bog, the bear-trap which led to the fur-trappers, the pistol - it was all so efficiently written. I also love how, at the end, Naru gives the Predator's mask and the settler's gun equal status in proving her worth as a warrior - to her, both were predatory forces in the land that she had to destroy.

That’s one of the few scenes that I didn’t like, we’ve always seen Yautja fight with honor and “grace” so seeing it brawl the bear to death seems out of character, but like James said, it’s this Yautja’s first time on earth, so it could be inexperience and young pride that made it do that
@trueomnilord7045
@trueomnilord7045 9 ай бұрын
@@michaeldantonio9009 If it makes you feel any better about it, this is actually in-character for the Yautja. At least from what we know, it is considered the most "honorable" thing to do when you fight your opponent on THEIR terms. So like in this case, even though its primitive times, let's pretend. This Yautja followed that by not using its extremely advanced technology and used primitive tools for the most part. Obviously it's still advanced but he didn't use anything like firearms and such, because the truly worthy gain there did not have that. So that Yautja fighting the Bear in brute combat is actually kind of spot on.

My theory is that the plasma caster exists at this time, and Feral was either a Youngblood who hasn’t earned the caster yet, or he was an aspiring Elite who wanted a fair fight after hearing stories of how primitive humanity was at this time, and it was possibly the reason why he didn’t bring it out, favoring the speargun instead.

To be fair, the movie actually ends with some animation in the credits depicting a number of Predator ships descending on the village. It's unclear whether they decided to take a page from AVP's lore and teach Naru's tribe, or whether they simply wiped out the tribe.

My guess is they teach Naru's tribe after all Naru killed the Predator that was on Earth in open combat using nothing but her wits in combo with her training and what she learned about this Predator and as seen in Predator 2 the Predators hold high in regard to the members of other races that can best one of their own in open combat.

Fun Fact: I've read on KZfaq comments that Raphael Adolini was originally going to be the main protagonist of "Predator 3" (before that movie became "Predators"). He was originally a pirate captain from 1718 who was betrayed by his crew. The traitorous crew was slain by the captain with the help of the Predator, but Adolini died and gave the latter his pistol, with his last words being, "Take it..."; that same Predator would later give the pistol to Harrigan at the end of "Predator 2". "Predator 3" was also supposed to be the first in a series of prequel films which would've depicted Predators fighting more historical/international warriors like samurai, Spartans, Egyptian Medjay, army soldiers, Vikings, etc.; however, "Predator 2" was a box-office flop, and the said prequels were cancelled, although the would-be plot to "Predator 3" would later be adapted to "Predator: 1718", a Dark Horse Comic series.

@@ieatbugs8948 I never saw the movies other than Predator. So I am going on a limb here. But the Aliens seem to have a thing with dominance. Given how the tribe worked with hunting, If that predator witnessed them hunting a wolf or bear- he would challenge them. Without her insistence on checking for danger, we would have more bodies. Those tribe boys were bound to get in trouble with him even without her. Think back to how he killed the snake at the beginning after observing and moved his way up the ladder. If he tried on one of the members of the tribe, they would be dead and there will be those who will want to avenge. We would have a much higher kill count if he made it to the village.

She’s not a Mary sue character at all, they actually show us how and why she is able to survive against the predator. She outsmarted him just like Dutch and many others did, if people look into the lore of the predators this is actually not shocking because the predators are so arrogant they simply don’t think they can lose.

I will complain it is woke because while it is fiction it tries to ground itself in history and realism and that gets thrown out the window with naru. There is not a single text that says there was ever a female native American war chief. I think it is a good film overall but it is definetly woke or atleast has today's touch on it. I saw say because we all know preds are basically big game hunters pretending like they aren't cheating and who the fuck that he fights does invis? But he uses his blades on the snake, wolf and bear, upgrades to his ranged weaponry against the comanche who are using arrows, and then uses nets and explosives on the french who use gunpowder tech. One of the things that I liked in the movie, besides the feral Predator and his kills, was how they incorporated the belief that whistling at night attracts bad luck or evil, the Feral Predator being that evil.

11:46 Dane isn't the shortest Predator. That would be Derek Mears from 2010's "Predators" since he was 6'5. Surprised James forgot about that lol

I unfortunately never got around to watching this, but I did see the trailers for it and I thought it looked really interesting. now I'm even more invested hearing the behind the scenes process and seeing how the story unfolds. I hope to finally get around to watching it if I can, it looks absolutely awesome!

This film really was the revitalization that the Predator franchise needed. Loved every single second of this film, and I have VERY high hopes for the franchise's future.

Literally how the fuck are so many bots enjoying this terrible movie. It’s actually incomprehensible this movie has ANY supporters let alone as many as this.

@@zzodysseuszz These seem like the words of someone who is literally not even TRYING to see the positives that this movie has. Also, not liking a film is one thing, but calling people who DO legitimately like this film "bots" is completely uncalled for. As shocking as it may seem to you, there ARE people who actually DO like this film, and they are REAL people.

@@kevinnorwood8782 Movie is mid at best. It's woke(thankfully not that much), disrespect the predator with how stupid and weak they made him and the protagonist is given way to much plot armor considering she is supposed to be fighting against a more durable, stronger, faster, smarter enemy and with technology that she SHOULDN'T understand at that age. Lastly, so many stupid parts that make no sense. Over all enjoyable but those negatives ruined it for me.

this film was feminist trash, just like all horror movies nowadays.

i feel like i'm just gonna be repeating myself from the podcast episode on this movie, but Naru's declaration and war cry at the end of her fight brings me to tears every time; this movie is SO! IMPORTANT! for native representation! i'm native from a californian tribe but this is what i've been wanting to see for us in film for so long. having almost a full native cast and crew alone is fantastic, and honestly this should be the standard. just what a powerful performance!!

I really love this kill count. I play it in the background or watch it to calm down before a big exam or I have to do something hard as it reminds me I may feel small but I can do great things. Also it is only 25 min compared to the entire movie

Prey was so damn good. I was so bummed it never got a cinema release or physical but loved every minute of it! When the Pred kills the bear and holds it up and gets covered in blood while invisible, I remember just getting so hyped. I hope the follow up is just as good and also that the upcoming Alien Romulus gets similar care and quality given to it.

I can definitely see Disney making a deadliest warriors or assassin creed like predator anthology series set in historical eras. Pirates, Samurai, Romans, etc. While yes it been explore in comics, this would definitely let more people into the franchise if filmmakers do it right
