In the evenings opener, undefeated super lightweight Darwin Price took on Semajay Thomas in testy 8 round match on PBC on NBCSN June 25, 2016.
The action started early with Price sending Thomas to the canvas in the opening round. With trainer Ronnie Shields in his corner, he followed the direction Shields gave him and continued to score points using his jab to create distance and set up combinations.
After 8 rounds, Darwin Price won by UD and remained undefeated.

A clear and easy win to Price against Thomas who just rushes swinging and clinching continuously. Price picked him of with jabs every time.

I would like to see punch stats on this fight. Thomas went in with wild off balance punches and missing most of them. If he could learn to control his aggression he will be a force to deal with. If he had landed 10% more of those wild hard punches he would have won easily. Maybe a change of trainers?

Bro are u blind! You are looking at Thomas Heart and weld to win!!! Look at the technical aspect how price fought him! No matter how thomas kept coming he still got out boxed as well as got out classed! Don't get me wrong Semajay had death on every punch but look at the discipline that price showed in the fight! I was there I saw it live!!! Taking nothing away from semajay he fought a damn good fight but he got beat!

No soy nadie para juzgar, pero no me gusta la manera de boxear del boxeador de rojo y negro. Me gusta cuando el box es estratégico y aunque haya muchos golpes, siempre y cuando se vea cómo deporte. El boxeo del tipo, creo llamado Thomas, solo es correr y lanzarse cual pelea callejera, dando golpes de conejo y cayéndose. Tiene buenos golpes, pero poca coordinación y estrategia.

Jose Lopez Price had plenty of technique here. The key to beating guys like Thomas is simple: counter and mobility. Limit their visibility with the jab from afar, then stick and move (angles/lateral movement) when they come forward trying to close the distance. That's literally all Price did. He didn't want to stand and exchange with the stronger more aggressive fighter, so he did his business at a distance. Thomas on the other hand, tried to force an exchange by clenching Price in order to land anything, precisely what Spence did to Algieri. Only difference in that fight was Spence held Algieri's arm to land good hits/wear him down.
