I have not really seen for NQ. Just test around 2000-3000 tick.

I don't use it on TV. I use Sierra Chart. Yeah I generally just use tick charts when I am daytrading in Sierra withg other orderflow tools like delta and footprint charts.

Im trying to understand when the price will continue in the same directon and not exept the low volume nodes, any advice? or if you have a video about it I would love to watch! thanks I have lots of time when Im placing a trade in a low volume area and the price just keep moving through it

in statistic there is lesson called bell curve distribution data, dont trade if market within 68% area coz its balance area, wait for breakout then pullback outside 68% area (imbalance area) to go above or below 68% area

Have you noticed that the prior day VWAP close is often used as support and resistance I always place a line there. I am learning Sierra chart now and your videos really help me out IMO no other charting platform even comes close to the power and customization of SC. thanks

What tick chart settings would you recommend for MES? Do you think tick chart is necessary?

It is not necessary. Just another way to split up the same data. I do like tick charts a lot for day trading to filter out times of big volumes. On MES I generally use a 2000 tick chart.

very interesting content sir! I'm in love with your way to explain and the valuable knowledge you share. How do you manage to determine direciton / daily bias? I'm testing Volume Profile but I don't get correct direction. For example, today in XAUUSD I got a short around 2174 as there was a LVN (or that's what I thought...) and then price continues to go up. How can I manage direction and volume together? Thanks in advance sir!

Well main this is always identifying the underlying trend. I mostly zoom out to a daily chart and then an hourly for this. And then look to align the volume profile levels with trend moves. So like I go over on this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/leB0f7yVv5-RaJs.html Look for retests of bottom HVN areas in uptrends for longs and tops of HVNs for shorts on downtrends.

@@PriceActionVolumeTrader thanks for your answer! The video you attached is the one that make me start with Volume Profile! :) I used to just use VWAP but now I include sessions VP. My question here is: in order estimate underlaying trend, we could say that price moves from HVN to HVN? If that's the case, in which timeframe should we look for the HVN? 1H? 1D? I understand 5mins TF is just for entry. Sorry for asking that much but I see your knowledge so useful for finally be profitable in trading. Thanks again for the knowledge you share with people!

Yes. Price moves from balance to imbalance. HVNs are balanced areas where price chops and accumulates more volumes/time. The timeframe depends on your trading style. If you are swing trading then look for HVNs on like a daily chart of wider areas. For day trading I generally have a volume profile on the hourly chart and I mark off the HVNs and LVNs and then intraday I look to participate around those areas looking at a lower timeframe for entries.

There are some user created ones but I am not sure how reliable they are. TradingView doesn't have real tick data like other more complete platforms so I use it on Sierra Chart.

In Sierra Chart it is in the chart settings menu. Under Bar period select # of trades. That is tick charts.

Check out my video on tick vs time based charts here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7infJlmtMuXYnU.html Basically ticks helps filter out the noise from highly volatile periods of trading. For example right around the first 30 minutes of the market open. If you had a 5minute or even a 1 minute chart you'll get just very big candles with big wicks everywhere, whereas the tick or even volume charts help split all that high volume action into more actionable patterns by printing more candles in those periods. And then on the contrary, during periods of low activity it will print less candles, instead of just a lot of small sideways ranging action.
