Our friend's daughter was recently told to share with her class about her identity. When she started to talk about Jesus, the teacher stopped her and wouldn't let her go on.

@@checkfactschecking Fair enough (as a principle, though I don't think that that's always true in practice). Regardless, the (understandable) frustration arises out of the awareness that if a student had begun explaining her identity in terms of the superstition of any *other* faith tradition, there is no chance that the teacher would have stopped her -- out of fear of being denounced as insensitive, if not worse.

There probably was nothing there and the fire ist a cover up because someone sold the paintings or hiding them.

I visited the service at that church three times. it was always empty with max 20 people for sunday service. Why all of sudden community mourns if nobody cared when the church was still alive ?

The same as one would mourn (and does) if any beautiful historic building were burned down, regardless of its current use -- including if it were not in use at all at the time of the fire (arson?). The loss of the art within would increase the mourning many times over in such a case, as it does here -- though I would argue that the building as a whole were an even greater work of any than any of the paintings within.

I think all the members of that church pay taxes and property taxes if they own houses. I think it's covered tax wise.

@@jimjackson4256 except the church is a religion and Canada has a historical Christian foundation. That's recognized by giving church's, temples, synagogues, etc tax exemptions because our Country recognizes that distinction.

Palestinians in Canada have been given a safe country to live in and instead of being appreciative they are making demands and disrupting Canadian lives. If they want to stop the war this isn't the way to go about it and it certainly isn't the way to appreciate your welcome to this great country!

Churches have been deliberately burned in Canada for years - and in Palestine, churches are respected but bombed by opposition.
