Jinjer is of course a Metal band (from Ukraine), but they don’t consider themselves one, and love experimenting with incorporating different genres. The emeralds are fish scales. I believe this was filmed to let Vlad the drummer show his skills as he’d just joined the band. He’s a classically trained pianist, guitar player and drummer. I think this will always be the best introduction for newbies to the band. It shows off the incredible talent of all the band members! Remember she’s using her false folds to growl. She was inspired to learn harsh vocals after a friend showed her Otep. Otep Shamaya was an early pioneer among female vocalists doing harsh vocals. You might want to check out some Otep songs? I recommend T.R.I.C and Ghost Flowers

Family love, I remember many moons ago my brother was trying to learn how to play/sing a song I had never heard before. Simon and Garfinkel The Sounds of Silence. A couple of years ago I made him watch the cover of the song on the Besta Zangers show done by Henk Port, for Floor Jenson from Nightwish. He also got to watch the Phantom of the Opera from them both together. My other brothers introduced me to Cream/Led Zeppelin/Bee Gees/Beetles and Elvis. Dad even introduced me to Glen Campbell/Johnny Cash

As impressive as the switch from the clean vocals to the growl is, i am always struck by that awesome metal belt she hits in the last chorus, just hits out of no where and it is just perfection..

I just went to a Jinjer concert this past Thursday 4/25 and they put on a great show.

The muscles used for the "growl" are the same muscle group used when babies scream for seeming hours without losing their voice. I taught my wife, who was already a metal fans when we met so many years ago, how to use those muscles. She is now a powerful growler with a pretty good range. Other than Tatiana, another prime example of growling/screaming range is Battlecross - Push, Pull, Destroy. Enjoy!

Aimee's comment that many female Harsh Vocalists often still sound like women in there screams is interesting, because Tatiana deliberately wanted that NOT to be the case when she was learning to growl, and clearly she succeeded. Another thing I find incredible about Tatiana's harsh vocals is how well they are to understand (also something she strives for, since she writes the lyrics and really wants them to be understood)

Seen this comment before about her voice: 'Asked if she wanted to be born with the voice of an angel or a demon, she said yes', lol.

As others have said, if Amy is into classic rock then you should definitely do The Warning together. “Evolve” live at the VMAs is a good starting point or anything from the Teatro Metropolitan show.

There is multiple layer of her voice as backing in some part of the song part of the post prod...that said it's still her voice and she can growl like a beast no doubt about that..I saw them live.

You should show her “Wallflower” or “I Speak Astronomy”. Tati’s beautiful clean voice really shines in those songs. If she is not familiar with them you should also introduce her to The Warning they have a couple of new releases that are fantastic. Band-Maid’s newest live release “Hate” is incredible as well. Seeing people's reaction to this song never gets old, she has some crazy talent for sure. Ohh and a tip to react to is Sabaton - No bullets fly animated story, might bring a tear to your eyes, amazing song, and the story still gets me teary eyed after listening to it so many times.

When tatiana screams in this video, she is two people. They went back and recorded an extra scream track over the screaming to add a wider sound to the mix. But she does do the lower and the higher screams in the recording. So it is 100 percent her.

I thought that nothing can drew away my attention when watching Tatiana sing! I was wrong!

so, the thoughts on the growling sounding masculine is interesting because she said in an interview that people thought her growls were too feminine, so she practiced and practiced for hours on end to emulate more of a masculine growl.

There was vocal layering added to this in post (per the video description) which is probably what Amy is noticing. That said, since growling/screaming tone isn't much determined by gender (though the size of the resonant cavities do play a role in how low one can go) someone's growling tone seems to be more a matter of their personality than anything else and Tati has a pronounced tomboy side that I think she channels into her growls.

You mention switch, I have seen Jinjer 3 times live, very close to the stage, and Tati's switches look effortless, and the entire band are insanely talented.

Tatiana has mastered the false-fold scream, which is the part of our chords we use to clear our throat, or cough. It's why she can switch back and forth so smoothly, with no chord fatigue.

This song was actually made to showcase their new (at the time) drummer, Vlad. They haven't made any more like it since it's not really why they make music; they make music to jam out with their fans at shows. If you like their other music, their shows are even better. Incredible stage presence live from all of them, it's such a fun atmosphere

So much fun to watch! Tatiana is a Pisces. The song is about swimming upstream looking for light and love only to be caught and killed by handsome butchers. When the war in their home Ukraine started they all volunteered. They were told to continue touring and support the cause. Should have kept her. When you say "it sounds like 2 people" - in some places there is an overlaid track, mostly in the guttural bits especially at the end, but occasionally in the clean as well, so it's effectively her singing 2 parts, just one is pre-recorded, and the other is live

The Warning is a band you just have to react to. They are three sisters from Monterey Mexico ages 19-24 and have been playing together for over 10 years and it shows. My favorite performance of theirs is "Evolve" from the 2023 MTV VMAs

It was multiple voices here and there; same lines have been doubled, meaning they're sung again slightly differently in a seperate recording and the two are put together.

This is entry level female harsh vocals. Wait till you hear Runhild Gammelsæter, Vivian Slaughter and especially Som Pluijmers and Nomo Darkling. Those 2 are the queens of brutality. But what makes Tatiana impressive is that she does good growls and lovely cleans and switches between them. She definitely has some technique down.

Tatiana is very much so in a class of her own. The other band members are also all top tier. Fun fact the drummer Vlad is a classically trained pianist. They are all super talented people and very down to earth people. They are very appreciative of their fans.
