+3hutp For me, it doesn't make sense to deal with crazy mthfcks like Walt and Jesse when Gale's product it's almost as good and the loss of money would not be that much if Gale continued alone again.
@3hutp7 жыл бұрын
Exactly. After they killed Gale, soon Gus only had Jesse, who could cook the same quality of product as Gale, only much less reliable. Actually, I don't think 3% makes such a difference in terms of sales. In the final episode Skinny Pete says 'the product is as good as ever' and they thought it was Walt's. I think Gus's first impression about Walt was completely right. Walt promised him he wouldn't even hear about Jesse, and then after a few cooks he demanded Gale to be replaced by him. This proves Walt's unreliability. At this point I'd have given Walt an ultimatum in Gus's place: keep cooking with reliable, trustworthy Gale or leave. Poor Gale, he was signing his death sentence by convincing Gus to employ Walt.
@3hutp7 жыл бұрын
Kwaj Besides, we know that after the tension between Walt and Gus emerges (in a rather short time), Gus has to do with Jesse's 96% pure meth, which would've been the same as Gale's, only, in the case of Gale he wouldn't have to watch his back all the time and could go on cooking forever. I'm really sorry for Gale. He should've met Walt at the very beginning, when he was not the violent asshole he had become by this point. He should've paired up with him instead of Jesse.
@psbjr7 жыл бұрын
Gus is clearly not cautious all the time. He actually is a lot like Walt. He takes big risks for big rewards (for example, the huge risk he took poisoning the cartel). Walt is one of the big risks, and he puts up with him for a big reward (extremely pure, "perfect" product). Further examples of such risks are his frequent visits to Hector, who could easily set him up (which he eventually does...).

Man I felt so bad for Gale when I watched this. Felt even worse when Jesse payed him a visit. Gale is probably the most innocent person involved with methamphetamine out of everyone on this show.
@dennispotter423610 жыл бұрын
mmm, don't be so quick to called Gale innocent. Did you notice Hank had a mugshot pic of Gale? He'd have to of been arrested for that to happen. He looks rough in the pic too. All that is deliberate, it implies Gale has previous criminal associations and hasn't always been as clean cut as he presents himself.
@HaloLvl43Legit10 жыл бұрын
Dennis Potter I don't know, if that were the case they should've made him do something desperate at gun point instead of just cower. He's not innocent, but not maliciously evil. Perhaps he was under the influence of drugs when arrested and when sober he's mild mannered. Maybe we'll get to see what he was like at the time of his arrest in the spinoff with Saul Goodman.
@RobertKaydoo10 жыл бұрын
Yes I felt bad for Gale but I felt bad for myself: my sides were hurting from laughing so much. :)
@dennispotter423610 жыл бұрын
Chris Stark That's besides the point. Yes, he looks gentle and innocent, but he's not. He may not be the cold blooded killer Gus is, but Gale is far from innocent. They are playing on the 'good seed turned bad ' thing again. Gale is another Walter you could say. He's up to his neck in it and the show gives clues to back that up. That's the point of the show. Everyone who enters Walt's life has broke bad' at some time.
@HaloLvl43Legit10 жыл бұрын
While you make a good point, I wouldn't say it's besides the point. As I stated, he's not innocent, but who really is in this world? A lot of people can rationalize/justify intentions (Gale makes a valid point saying if he doesn't make the meth someone else will, at least his product isn't cut or diluted with chemicals that make the meth MORE dangerous to use.) Granted, being under the influence doesn't excuse him, I'm basing my judgment on who he is(was) currently.

Wow this op didn't get the show, Walt only wanted to become like Gus after Walter killed him. At this point of the series Walter fully respects Gus and is fine working under him w/o even complaining about how much Gus is earning compare to him. Reason why Walter had to fire Gale is because of whatever Jesse said in prior to this episode. Its not as deep as you expect by analyzing each character and what they'll do, things just happens by characters doing actions in the situation they are in, not what personality they have.

@conmattang84922 жыл бұрын
Well, let's recall that Gus did take the first possible opportunity to push Jesse towards doing something stupid. Once he knew Jesse had an issue with the gangs using kids, he likely ordered that the two other dealers kill Thomas in order to set Jesse off and get himself killed, offering Gale a convenient way to get his job back. Gus never wanted Jesse long term.

Walter wanted a subordinate, not a partner. He wanted someone to follow his orders, not work with someone who is his equal. At least, that's the vibe I got from this scene. Plus, he wants to mold Jesse to take his position when he's gone.
@Korijenkins14142 жыл бұрын
Walt just did not want to work with someone near his level. He just had to be "the man" and that meant bringing in Jesse, who he viewed as dumb and subservient.
@theonlygoodlookinghabsburg20812 жыл бұрын
Not true, he brought Jesse in because Jesse threatened to keep cooking on his own which would've led to him getting killed by Gus. I hate it when people try to twist anything Walt does into the "ultimate super since forever evil plan" it's really annoying. Yes the man did evil things, but it's not all black and white.

Walter couldn't give any more sh*t about him and he was a douche to him even though Gale was such a sweet heart and a responsible partner.
