Dr. Sally Ride became the first American woman to go to space in 1983. She was also the first astronaut known to have been LGBTQ+, though she was not able to publicly come out until after her death. Through the work she did after her time at NASA, she helped increase scientific literacy especially for both women and other minorities.
In this week's episode of Cosmos from your Couch, join PhD candidate Bethany Ann Ludwig as she guides us through Dr. Ride's journey to become an astronaut, her experiences as a queer person, and her lasting legacy!
