It's really not that funny. People can't identify the sexual preferences of people just by looking at them. The line about being confused about how some straight women and lesbians dress similarly proves this. Not every "straight-looking" person at Pride is straight, and also allies have always been welcome at Pride.
@sapphicrose8213

@@calebk9111 It's more about how some straight people see being LGBTQ+ as a trend of sorts. (Eg: Straight Girls wearing carabiners, Gay Best Friends)
@calebk9111
@calebk9111 2 жыл бұрын
@@sapphicrose8213 Carabiners have absolutely nothing to do with sexuality. That example is completely irrelevant. Being gay only means that a person is attracted to people of the same gender/sex as them. You're incorrectly identifying gayness with trends that gay people follow. It doesn't matter that straight people are following trends in fashion, etc. because they aren't claiming to be gay at all. They're just wearing clothes that other gay people happen to also wear.
@sapphicrose8213
@sapphicrose8213 2 жыл бұрын
@@calebk9111 Yes, it’s true that being gay has nothing to do with the clothes you wear. However, it’s important to note that certain things people might wear already meant to be signals to other gay people. If we replace ‘fashion trends’ with things people say, it wouldn’t be ok for straight girls to say that they’re ‘A friend of Dorothy’s’ or something like that, because it is a phrase made to help certain queer people find other queer people discreetly. Side note: I just have to ask, are you queer? Because if you are CisHet, you’re not really in a position to talk about these sorts of things.
@calebk9111
@calebk9111 2 жыл бұрын
@@sapphicrose8213 First, you're so right that some clothing styles and accessories have historically been symbols of the LGBT community. However, it's not necessarily wrong for that to change. Many straight girls have cited their decision to "start dressing gay" as an effort to stop catering to the male gaze. If their intent is to be safe (i.e. avoid predators), then it's no different than LGBT people's intent to be safe in their clothing choices. The kind of safety straight women seek is different than the kind of safety LGBT people seek, but it's safety nonetheless, and it is absolutely wrong to try to prevent others from trying to seek it. Second, I am bisexual and trans (ftm), but that's a very inappropriate question to ask someone you don't know and don't intend to sleep with. My sexual preferences are none of your business, even if sexuality is the topic of the discussion. And it's not fair to want to prevent people outside the community from talking about issues they observe within the community. The goal, after all, is integration. We should not be distancing ourselves from people outside the community, we should be trying to exchange viewpoints and educate them so that we can coexist peacefully.

Hitting on a straight dude...? So you go after guys that you know like opposite sex. Not gonna lie that sounds kind of fucked up, and probably makes them uncomfortable. You shouldn’t push your sexuality on someone just saying, and no I am not homophobic in any ways.
