Pride Official Trailer #1 (2014) - Bill Nighy, Andrew Scott Historical Comedy HD
Starring Bill Nighy (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Imelda Staunton (Maleficent), Dominic West (The Hour), Paddy Considine (Submarine), Andrew Scott (Sherlock), Joseph Gilgun (Lockout), George MacKay (How I Live Now) and Ben Schnetzer (Warcraft).
In Theaters September 19, 2014
PRIDE is inspired by an extraordinary true story. It’s the summer of 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike, prompting a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists to raise money to support the strikers’ families. Initially rebuffed by the Union, the group identifies a tiny mining village in Wales and sets off to make their donation in person. As the strike drags on, the two groups discover that standing together makes for the strongest union of all.

@@thevampirefrog06 That wonderful line, "It can't be true, can it? You're all vegetarians!" accurately depicts attitudes of the time. I worked in a builder's office and one day Nancy the cleaning lady came in furtively and said, "Do you know what I heard about Frank?" (Looked around to make sure she was not overheard.) "He's a vegetarian!" Frank was a quiet fellow who worked along the corridor and had been vegetarian for as long as I had known him, but for Mrs Mop who had just found out, it obviously meant he was an awful lot more besides, but goodness knows precisely what,. When I told her I was also vegetarian, it took some time to convince her before she headed off happily on her rounds, now with not one but two scandals to disseminate.

One of the actors was really shining in this movie according to me and that was the guy who played Mark Ashton. How he portrayed a activist who inspired those around him and sacrificing anything for his cause was so convincing. There was like a constant flame in his eyes that showed how much he hated injustices and how much motivation and drive he had to do something about it, almost to the point to where he would seem mad to those around him. I've seen people like that in real life, you feel like nothing can stop them in their way. Also how he invest everything into his activism forgetting everything else, which eventually could break any person. Such brilliant portrayal, I am so impressed.

A proud person will never accept Jesus’ death on the cross for forgiveness of his/her sins. They think they are fine without God and don’t want God telling them what to do. There is no middle ground; If you haven’t sided with God then you have sided with the devil. If God is not your Father, then the devil is. The devil treats his children like rubbish but God spoils you with unconditional love. Therefore forsake your sins of lying, stealing, sexual immorality, lusting, disrespecting parents etc Believe in Jesus today. This was or is one of the most astonishing movies I have ever seen in the year 2014 or even starting this new century. I could not believe of the excitement and performances in this picture. You don't have to be gay or support gay in order to enjoy this picture. Why? Because were are in 2015 now and times have changed. I expected this film to involve sex, drugs, relationships and tragedy. It was better than that, it was about true events of gay activists who know what it is like to be disowned and not accepted in their own community helping another community get back on their feet. It shows that gay people are fun and exciting to be around and don't let others beat them down. What an amazing picture and full of life, one of the best of the century!

The film is phenomenal, working-class art. For commercialism sake, the film makers obscured Mark Ashton and Mike Jackson's backgrounds. Both men were communists and members of the Communist Party of Great Britain. Ashton was the general-secretary of the Young Communists League of the CPGB. To those of us who know, we'll recognize some of the iconography in Ashton's apartment and on his clothes, even though no mention is ever made of these. Among a few pivotal scenes was at the very end, before the United Mineworkers appear in their hundreds at the 1985 Gay Pride Parade to support the people who had supported them. The Parade organizer approaches Ashton and tells him there will be no politics in the parade, no banners. Ashton and his comrades have sewn dozens of red flags they're carrying. "We're tried of politics," the parade organizer says. Not much is made of this exchange, which rightly pisses Ashton and Jackson off to no end, but this tension reflects the tension that gay pioneers, like Harry Hay and, later Leslie Feinberg fought. Hay had been with the Communist Party USA and Feinberg with Workers World Party, and assimilation and accommodation to gain the acceptance of heterosexuals was an anathema to their visions of the broader class struggles.

@@__-eo9nu 1. SUFFERING PROVES THERE'S NO GOD. Imagine you're flying on a state-of-the-art plane and you're thinking that its manufacturer did a wonderful job. Suddenly it drops a thousand feet, injuring or killing several of the passengers. As you look at the wounded, see the blood, and hear the groans, do you conclude that no one made the plane? Of course not. The logical conclusion is that something went terribly wrong on the plane. To those who believe the Bible, every incident of human suffering and death is the tragic result of living in the fallen creation detailed in the first book of the Bible. Suffering instead stands as testimony that God's Word is true.

As a trans gay guy, thank you for being so cool about it. People in the comments are saying "there should be more black people! there should be more members of the lgbt+ family in this!" and while racial diversity was something the film definitely lacked (and one of the only negatives i feel the film has), it was Lesbians and Gays Support The Miners, not Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Trans* People Support The Miners. The film is historically accurate and heartwarming.

I don't understand why do some people hate LGBT? There is no reason to hate them. I grew up in a middle class family and we live in country side. I never heard about LGBT till I was 17. I encountered two lesbian couples and one is our distinct relative( I didn't know the term Lesbian at that time). I never heard talking bad about them from my family or from other people. May be we just simply live our life and we don't think too much about other and we don't judge other. When I attend the university in Big city and I learned so many new things. I knew what LGBT mean. I never felt it is disgusting since the first time I heard about it .Honestly I love them. I think their love is more special or something that is diffrent. I heard some antigay talking too. What things taught or made them to think gay is disgusting? I hate people who hate gay. I think most people in our country behave like outsiders in concern with LGBT.

I loved the part when the gays visit the social club and start dancing. This clip doesn't do the movie justice, but it also doesn't give much away which can ruin a movie.

Proverbs 16:5 Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; Though they join [a]forces, none will go unpunished.

This week was good for me (and a Greek tv channel) movie wise. Monday this one and Wednesday Miss Sloane (gotta fall in love with Chastain, had that on my "potential favs" list for a while; wasn't aware of Pride at all). Needless to say I loved them both... They actually gave me life, even tho I've lost my hope.
