Wow, you are a brilliant cinematographer and wordsmith. Thank you for sharing your adventures. I’m greatfull for the opportunity to watch your content. I grew up in Central Oregon and thankful for the bounty and beauty we have been blessed with.

Jason,,,,, that country your in right now, was all grazed by the Basque Sheep Ranchers of the Day, Circa... 1850 +/- and forward, I ran all that country pretty hard back-in the day, 60's-70's early 80's as my Grandfather ran Cattle with the ZX Ranch, and the Whitehorse Ranch Boy's, and also in the Trout Creek Mtn's area as well.... it's nice to see that country again thru your "Eye's" and Camera,,,,, Very Well Done. This also where I 1st met Claude Dallas, and later on I ran into him again, on the road outside of Jordan Valley, he was headed down into the Owyhee Canyon Country, and was looking for a ride, as I was Chucker Hunting that area, I said hop-in, and he did, that was Oct-Nov 1980,,,,, and I'm sure you know the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey used to say...... Anyway, keep-on keeping on,,,, take care.... BD in Alaska...😎

You and your buddy from Soft Roading the West are really my favorite KZfaqrs. There are lots of #vanlife channels. There are lots of #overlanding channels. There are lots of #offgrid channels. But the two of you manage to combine all three in a format that is desirable, respectable, and presented in a way which I wish to emulate. I left my "home" in Maine early December. Currently in Southeast Georgia building and working on my rig. I'll be good to go further exploring out West by (mid?) February. Thank you for the continued motivation to get out there and live my best life.

Jason, seriously 13 minutes? Thats all we get lol. It’s never enough when watching your videos my friend lol. And yes that’s a compliment of the highest order. I just watched your recent video of you and Daisy getting stuck in the snow and I commented that 20 minutes wasn’t enough lol. You have us all locked in and ready to spend an hour or more with you and Daisy and the occasional friend included as well. As I’ve said before I been watching your content since the beginning and your skills at filming and story telling along with editing are just off the charts incredible. There are tonnes of people making full length films that could learn a thing or two from you my friend and I mean that sincerely. You can take this as another compliment and that is the only complaint I have and so do a lot of other people is that your videos are to short, it doesn’t matter whether you make them 10, or 15, or 20, or even 30 minutes long they’re never enough. And that my friend is probably the best compliment you can ever get. That we enjoy what you do and how you show it to us so much that we always want more. Especially on a trip like the one in this video. You put so much into it with the planning and the preparations and driving etc that I’m frankly surprised that you made such a short video. You could probably have made this one 30-60 minutes and still have left stuff out. I understand how much work is involved in making these videos at the level you have achieved so you wont hear any complaints from me other than the occasional wish it was longer bit lol. Once again I want to say thank you for continuing to share your adventures/journey with all of us its been a lot of fun on this side of the camera as well. I remember when you had less than 1,000 subscribers man that seems like a lifetime ago. Now you are so good I keep wondering when your master class is going to be released lol. I just love this video! The music, colors, textures, storytelling/narration, etc. - just a joy to watch. The exploring on foot was one of the best parts. I do question if all the trees were by design of a long-ago previous homestead/settlement or by nature? It was a beautiful spot, an oasis for sure. 😊💖

I really enjoy your videos. They make me wish I was there. I couldn't help but notice what looked like a Wolfe Customs Bahco Laplander sheath over your frying pan handle. That's one good way to get more use out of it and keep from burning your hands.

We actually live on the edge of the Alvord. Attempting to do exactly what these old homesteaders tried to do then! Trees and soil are being built. This dry desert landscape can be changed!

A word of caution: It may not apply right there in that spot, but I found out at a very young age that some of those old long forgotten homesteads have hand dug wells that can be concealed by growth or covered with rotted boards. A person can walk right into them and fall to their death without even seeing them.

I'll bet it was pretty before we as people's found it , & expressed our need to find thing's out, by what ever means possible, or a volcanoe did it , cause they melt rock & we walk so poorly sometimes we need a smack up side our head to get us back in line , & volcanoes can do that , & hurricane's & pick something cause we are very sm in light of things , & if we look we can plainly see it , love people's as much as u can , cause they need it & we all do too 💖🐕 ☕🍯🍶

Casey has pointed out in some of his videos that at the time of the original homesteads, the area was a lot wetter than it is now. I believe that had the area NOT dried out, there would be active ranches there even now.

Great video ,for spots like that you should invest in a Metal detector. Never know what you will find!

It's interesting to me that the homesteaders who built that structure did so almost entirely out of Volcanic pumice, although it makes much more sense taking into account your proximity to some of the volcanic craters in the area. Guess they had to build with whatever they had available.

Cinematic, story, ethics and professionalism is why i watch your videos but what brings me back is what i see who you really are from other channels where Edward and Donald has documented on their channel.
