Ultralinear is actually the operation point between pentode and triode. It gets most of the nuance of triode mode while getting about 75% of the power of pentode mode. Triode mode just straps the screen to the plate (anode) to make it operate like a conventional triode similar to a 300B. I do not agree with not driving tube hard. I have done extensive testing and I find tubes being pushed hard get the lowest THD. However these are some of the finest sounding amps I have ever heard. Thank you for your videos.
