It’s possible that they will give up on the cameras if enough drivers quit….I worked for TMC transportation for 6 years they are flatbed company that have the nice black and chrome Peterbilts…The company attempted to transition to cameras in every truck but the push back was very strong and the drivers stood in solidarity about the actions they would take if cameras in every truck became mandatory…What ended up taking place at that was TMC pulled back on the cameras in every truck and only put them in drivers trucks who had a bad record of critical events and bad operating skills ie speeding and hitting things, and also guys that wanted them…believe it or not there were drivers who wanted the cameras as well, but definitely just a small minority…but all of this was years ago,,, currently I don’t know what the situation is…but stick together as drivers and you all can get the changes and policies that you want….

Sounds like a great potentially effective idea but, let's be real, many truckers come from challenging not so great backgrounds and situations making truck driving an upgrade for them. Many drivers are eager and desperate for a better life which is totally understandable but it mks it easy to overlook coming together as drivers for better treatment and conditions of the industry. Again, a great idea and would be effective if we all finally said enough is enough. Everyone in this industry outside of drivers that participates in the mistreatment of drivers all forget that everything they use, eat, wear, drive, etc. was brought to them by a trucker

Inward-facing cameras in trucks are often installed for safety and monitoring purposes, especially in commercial vehicles. They can help ensure driver alertness, monitor behavior, and provide evidence in case of accidents or disputes. However, the use of these cameras does raise issues regarding privacy and constitutional rights. The Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable searches and seizures, and the Fifth Amendment protects against self-incrimination. The installation of cameras that continuously record audio and visual information could potentially infringe upon these rights, especially if the recordings are used beyond safety purposes. The legality and specific implications of inward-facing cameras can vary depending on jurisdiction and context. It's important for lawmakers, regulators, and stakeholders to carefully consider the balance between safety and privacy when implementing such technologies. If you're personally affected by this issue or seeking advice, consulting with legal experts or advocacy groups specializing in privacy rights and transportation regulations could provide more specific guidance. Your concerns reflect a broader societal conversation about how technology impacts our fundamental rights, and it's important to engage in these discussions to ensure a fair and balanced approach.
@Lonewolf_17762 ай бұрын
4th Amendment means nothing in this case. You didn't learn anything from covid when companies were making employees get jabbed. A private business can have their own policies and it's up to you if you want to comply or quit.

I just started with Prime last month. A few things are bothersome to me and that I am not keen on, but they primarily relate to my communication with in-house employees. Some folks on the other side of the phone are not very friendly, are dismissive, and sometimes speak to me as an imbecile. It’s not just people on the other side of the phone; there’s also staff I’ve encountered in person during my times at Springfield who have been the same way. I’m a major extrovert and socialite, so interacting with those types of people is not very fulfilling or pleasant. I also firmly believe in educating someone rather than belittling them, especially if they’re taking the initiative to want to learn. It is not that I have been verbally “belittled,” but that many more parts are involved in effective communication aside from just the words one speaks. Not only do I dedicate so much of my time and life to driving over the road, but I’m also a full-time dual degree student working towards a degree in Psychology and Neuroscience and Cognitive Science while I’m out here over the road, so, please, switchboard lady, do not insult my intelligence lol. 😂 None of that applies to the inward-facing cameras, but I just had to rant and get that out there lmfao. The cameras are certainly repulsive regarding inward-facing, but I was shocked to know they didn't even utilize outward-facing cameras. That's justifiable for insurance and claim purposes. Still, I don't think implementing an inward-facing camera is the most cost-effective solution, nor do I believe it will yield the results they're hoping for. There are still ways around the camera to detect someone on their cell phone without obstructing the lens or making any apparent changes. If drivers cannot refrain from being on their cell phones while driving, then it will still be something they do if there is a camera placed on the windshield or not. I can't see a justified reason to record a driver, audio or visually, when we sacrifice the “traditional” lifestyle, and things we do to drive for a company yet don't get the privilege or respect to embrace our space or privacy. You trust me enough to live in, respect, protect, drive, and hold possession of a $500K vehicle, BUT ONLY if you can record and document my activity. They all say it can’t be accessed live, it doesn’t record all the time, blah blah blah, but I don’t believe that shit as far as I could throw it. I feel like it’s relatable to an Amazon Alexa or any of those devices that sit back and listen 24/7, and you don’t even know it. I’m sure if someone was a psycho and murdered someone in their bunk and was going to trial for it, there would miraculously be footage from that camera that could indict you. I also feel like drivers who receive citations, have accidents, or are a risk to the company or other civilians’ safety for being on their cell phones should be handled and addressed accordingly as an individual. Fire them or whatever they deem necessary. Don’t stick a camera inside everybody’s truck, which doesn’t come with a guarantee that all phone usage while driving will come to a halt if they aren’t a part of the problem. As lease drivers, like the Omnitracs Qualcomm that dates back to before the Titanic, the NaviGo, and everything else aside from a trailer washout, how much will possibly be deducted from our settlements weekly for those? Anyway, I could continue, but I need to save something for next time. Like I said, I’m an extrovert and a socialite. I apologize for the essay. 😂 Those folks in-house don’t like to talk on the phone, and that’s usually when I get my human interaction, so I’m probably lacking and withdrawing from social connections, lol.
That’s why I drive for a very small company 12 trucks home every night and good pay

I am not affiliated with Prime, but Muthertrucker News recently released a video. The unique feature of the inside camera is the AI technology it uses. According to my understanding, if you keep your head down for too long, it will generate noise and alert the company. Schneider National used to have inside cameras in their trucks but removed them. I am unsure of the reason, but it indicates that it is possible that it can be removed later on.

I wouldn't count on them to remove it I think in Snyder's case there was some potential liability because it was on all the time have you ever seen the government or a company give up some power that they received over the driver hell to the no they won't and you can bet that's the same thing going to happen with this camera is going to be pushed back and lawsuits and someone's going to win the lawsuit and if it's the drivers or the company or the government and then it's going to be permanent one way or the other just like these f***** up hours of service and mandatory breaks electronic logs do I have to say anymore?

It’s a company vehicle. Period. Those cameras will get installed sooner or later. Become an owner op. And to all the lease drivers, you are not an owner op. Anyways, love your videos. Keep it up.
@viralshark2 ай бұрын
yep, you are on a job site using company equipment. its really no different than working in a warehouse with heavy machinery where cameras are there to make sure people are safely doing their jobs maybe this will push more people into becoming owner ops and truckers can take the industry back from the mega carriers... thats the dream right?

The inside cameras only comes on when you have a hard brake or the truck motion detector is swaying. It goes back 15 seconds I believe. It’s to keep insurance cost down. Some companies have these cameras in all their trucks. They are key for accidents. I personally had them and when I was on a break I put a napkin over the camera. But when I was working I took it off. It’s for your benefit as well.

Nah you only need outward cameras to prove who is at fault

ALWAYS follow the money trail! Prime knows there is money to be made on KZfaq videos and, just like the police videos, they want in on the action. I don't think it's personal... They want the revenue.

Prime is genius. There’s a lot of layoffs happening and instead of them laying people off they instead do the one thing all truckers hate.

If it’s voluntarily, I don’t want it, if it’s mandatory, like you said I will see how it goes. I believe if you are a safe driver it won’t affect you. The cameras won’t be for spying or else prime will make a lot of people rich off law suits. You also sound like a politician. Good reaction video to the situation 😂

You are right it’s not always greener on the other side but with that said I drove for CFI out of Joplin,Missouri for about 10 years these mega carriers and schools don’t tell the young people they are going to teach you what you need to know to get your CDL license they teach you on a automatic transmission and you will be restricted to the automatic transmission and depending on what state you live in it can be very difficult to get that restriction off your license and learn how to shift a manual transmission but I left CFI because of the automatic transmission and the cameras and the system with them I believe most if not all of the mega carriers have gone to this for a young driver today with the automatic restrictions on their license they are stuck they don’t have much of a choice

I work for ROEHL, we have outward and inward cameras, its not as bad as people makei t out to be in my opinion. Mine is normally turned off and it gets turned on for about 5 minutes every couple weeks. It gets covered by my windshield curtains at night. I honestly dont even think about it anymore

If companies tell insurance folks to piss up a rope and cancel their policy and go elsewhere to one that doesn’t they’ll stop demanding them. Whey aren’t they mandatory in four wheelers? I see way more folks reading paper or books or putting on makeup… ect in them than in cmv’s

I worked for an insurance company. Drove company car. I paid a fee to also drive company car for personal use. They wanted to install GPS on car and possibly install cameras. Luckily they tried it in a few and realized the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. Not cost effective and possibility of adding additional liability. Lawyers could use in court against driver.
@GrammarPoliceInvestigationsАй бұрын
I drive for a very large private fleet. They considered putting driver facing cameras in the trucks. The lawyers thought about it and decided it was actually a liability for them to be in place. During an event, any activity other than gripping the wheel and looking forward or in the mirrors, can be deemed a distraction by opposing council. They decided they didn't want to give the other side any help and opted for forward facing cameras only. I hope this becomes a legal strategy and these cameras start costing the companies money.
@mountmount17572 ай бұрын
If they make the cameras mandatory for Lease Ops then yall should receive a deduction for the weekly lease cost and a lil extra speed since the cameras are most likely for insurance reduction on primes end and some of that damn sure should carry on to the lease folks

Thankful I work 4 a smaller trucking company and have no inward facing cameras in the trucks. What about some of the people in charge of looking at these cameras on off shifts watching women drivers caught with their pants down in the office and lost their job’s? Why is this not being talked about folks? This happened 2 a lady I know personally!

I watched a vid from a driver in Iowa who got a new KW T680, It had a dashcam just like his old truck but it wasnt until later that first day that he noticed the camera was turned around. It was watching him. !

We drive.team. They shut us down filming on duty or on premises. Eventually they all will because of all the lawsuits. We.have forward facing cameras only and most companies are going.that route. You are blessed to be able to film.

The AI camera flags you when you look away from the road, like if you have a bag of chips on the passenger seat and you look over at it, the camera will flag you. If your head leaves the green box, flagged. Looking at your mirrors is OK, wont flag you, but anything else it will. I've seen the cameras get guys fired and other times it saved their job.

Hi there. Let’s GO. Hmmmm 😳😳 Well, if the cameras are all forward facing, no audio and the others monitoring outside the truck?? Maybe. But, once corporate gets started with something like this, they add to it. Anywho, do what’s best for you. As you always say, “Have multiple streams of income”. If this is not your cup of tea, there are other professions out there. Stay safe out there💚

Yeah, I’ve been seeing mentions of this coming. I’ve wondered what your opinion was going to be (but I think I assumed it was t going to g to be great). Should Only be for trainees and possibly new drivers in a probationary period! Veteran drivers should not have that level of surveillance forced on them! Bad move by Prime!
