Gatekeeping victim-hood doesn't do anything to clarify or resolve the situation. I don't see why we can't take both as seriously as they should be taken. Harassment is bad. Rape and sexual assault are also bad. The latter two are worse than the former. I don't think people being harassed and being upset about it makes rape victims get taken less seriously. I think the issue is that stuff like this is often blown out of proportion. That's something that is really difficult to control though, and there's really no easy solution to that problem.

@@Faranhype Fuck man this was a year ago so I don't remember super well, but these kinda convos are important so: when looking at stuff like this it's really easy to paint villains and victims by assuming that one person was pretty aware of reality and intending all of the results of their actions, and the others are genuinely misguided. What's more common most of the time is that everyone is acting under some level of willful ignorance because the truth is either disappointing or awkward. I think the most likely scenario is that Kat just didn't want to think about how she was leading Prime on, because having a firm conversation would be super awkward. Same as Prime just didn't want to think about what she probably meant by her vague-ish statements around not being available right now, because accepting she's too awkward to say 'fuck off' directly is super disappointing. Sam was misrepresenting everything in this situation, PROBABLY because she just didn't want to think about the possibility that Prime was actually just an awkward fuck who couldn't get a clue and she was playing dangerous fucking games. She probably just wanted to be a hero and lacked the discipline to ensure she wasn't superman punching the wrong dude's head off. Here's my take: Kat was under the impression that Sam had directly confronted Prime and Prime had said/done some shit (I forget) that he hadn't, but if he HAD then it would add a new context for her to view his past actions in. She didn't want to investigate further because she thought she'd been harassed by a manipulator and that's really stressful and she just wanted to solve the problem. Willful ignorance all around led to this situation and people started firing shots before they were sure of what was actually downrange. From what I can recall I think that Sam was the worst, because she had to not just *not think* about stuff, which is really bad but really common, but *actively misconstrue the situation* so that she wouldn't have to do the stuff she didn't want to do. But for the most part this isn't mast manipulators moving pieces around a chess board, it's idiots playing loud music at 1am on a Tuesday and just not-thinking about their neighbours. With worse consequences.

It comes from the understanding that in certain sexual misconduct/assault cases the legal proof standard is often too high of a bar to reasonably meet, especially under circumstances where women feel threatened, and because of that sexually assaulted women often don't get justice though the legal system. *BUT*, that doesn't mean that in prolonged online cases like this its unreasonable to have proof since recording a discord call is not something that puts you in danger.
