On one of his many cockney odysseys, the Primemutton took time out the days before a Man City game in London to try out some of the black stuff in London.
Following recommendations from Muttonistas and his own personal favourites , Mutton blazed a trail through London , North , South and Central to bring you not only the best pints of Guinness he could find , but also his British Favourite , London Black Porter at its home and taproom, the Arch House in Bermondsey.

As the barman said, Kölsch is from Köln (Cologne). You only get it there. There are many breweries in the city and many have their own brauhaus’s. Excellent beer and food culture there. Very much worth a trip. In the brauhaus’s they serve the Kölsch in 200ml, lovely thin glasses and have waiters going around ready to give you a fresh one when you run dry. They keep a tally of how many you’ve had on your coaster. Just down the river is Düsseldorf where they have Altbier which is copper coloured. Similar set up in the brauhaus’s.

Good to see Stone and Wood making an appearence I promise we have some better beers in Australia. Stone and Wood is the beer that everyone drinks when they turn 18 and start drinking moving on to better IPA's later, a good beginner.

The Euston tap on the return trip is one of the best things about visiting London. Itsu and a few beers from M&S for the train home.

An eventful Cockney Odyssey. This of course is not an exhaustive list of places that serve decent stout in London, it's impossible for me to visit all of them and I visited as many as I could in the limited time I had. I know some of you have your own favourite watering holes down there but id be shocked if any of them were much better or equal to these establishments apart from a couple of pubs I wanted to visit but couldn't find the time to. But I do try and feature such places or some of the places in this video when City play away in London or at Wembley. If you have or intend to visit any of these places drop me a line. If you have been to the establishments I feature here and you can find something clearly better , let me know in the comments section.

Have you tried Forged stout ? I am a guinness drinker from Cork ( loved your visit to Cork) but i got 4 cans of Forged stout yesterday and it poured great and for me tasted better than guinness. Hopefully it comes to cork on draught.

A British Pork Pie is the best snack with any beer, and with the pastry a much better partner in soaking up the liquid than purely a meat based product.

@alspurs1990 It really isn't at all. Sure, there might be tourists in there because of the location, but the price of Guinness is within 20p of most other places in central. Mutton, you should try the Guinness at the Coach & Horses, just off Covent Garden Market. It's up there with Sheephaven Bay and (in my opinion) The Devonshire

@@nl1559 well if you’ve had Guinness in all of them then it’s interesting to hear what you’re saying . The coach and horses was on my list of venues but I ran out of time . I’ll try the Devonshire again and while it’s a good pint , some of my viewers/followers raved about it so much that I thought I’d be getting Dublin quality Guinness , which it clearly isn’t.

Hi Mr. Mutton, if you ever find yourself in Macclesfield, I can recommend the George and Dragon for a Guinness, and the real ale pubs The Castle or the Waters Green Tavern, I'm a Macc Blue.

Sheephaven Bay for me is the best Guinness in London. Very reasonable at less than £6 as well. In the Dublin Castle it was nearly £8 for a distinctly average pint.
