79 Years Ago, on this day, June 6th. The largest amphibious landing, Operation Overlord commenced with the combined efforts of the Western Allies of the United States, Britain, and Canada. Opening the Western Front to assist the Soviet Union in defeating the Third Reich and Fascism, liberating Western Europe from their tyranny.
