I just wanna point out how we fight off Qurio swarms with Malzeno for an 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 This is especially so given the Citadel lighting flips from the fortress' right to its left (Facing the main entrance into the place). We fight them off from sundown to sunrise... Quite funky

Primordial Malzeno is such an interesting beast. His scales, a suit of armor His tail, spear His wings, shields His wing talons, swords and blades Truly a paladin knight within the scales of a dragon.

What I love from recent monhun series is certain Elder Dragons, like Nergigante and Malzeno are by no means evil. Instead they act as the protector of balance in nature.

That ending of malzeno free from the qurio flying into the sunset gave me goosebumps

That ending is what you truly call a Sunbreak

I love how much intelligence they're giving the elders in recent games. Specifically in Rise with Narwa and ibushi being quite intelligent (albeit full of malice). When Primal stares at the hunter you can see its intelligence; with it spreading its wings as some kind of sign of respect. Love it

I love that brief stare between malzeno and the hunters, it's almost like you can hear malzeno talking to us

I do love that contrary to how many elder’s act, Malzeno is one of the few who is actually a protector. His scales looking like a knight’s armor is perfect, and his contrast from the Dracula inspired Quirio afflicted Malzeno is a great omage to a lot of interpretations of Dracula’s origin

i love the contrast between rise and world. the final in world is a destroyer that needs to be stopped and the final in rise is a protector that needs to be saved

After seeing Fiorayne and the Hunter aid it in fending off the Qurio, Malzeno understood that the humans meant no harm. Malzeno may be the first Elder Dragon (outside of Stories) to form a mutual understanding with humanity.

I do wish they added more of a gameplay mechanic to helping malzeno kill the qurios? Capcom can reuse the qurio ball assets that gaismagorm use to represent the qurio attacking malzeno.

We already knew that Malzeno wasn't malicious outside of the influence of the Qurio, but getting this first-hand confirmation is so satisfying. People have pointed out that Malzeno's theme has this tragic feel to it and now we can say pretty confidently that that was intentional.

this is probably one of the best cinematic in sunbreak. its… i can’t even put words together how AMAZING this cutscene is. i’m not gonna lie, when fio started crying, i started crying. this game is a little too close to my heart

Who would’ve guessed Malzeno was friend shaped

A knight was saved from becoming a bloodthirsty vampire. Malzeno staring at the hunters felt like it was saying, “thank you, brave human warriors” before flying away into the sunset

What an ending to such an amazing game. I can't stop crying, it's so beautiful.

This is the best possible ending for the 5th gen The whole theme of this gen was that killing everything at sight without the proper research has serious consequences like how killing malzeno only helped gaismagorm or killing ruiner nergi allowed shara isvalda to come out safely or killing velkhana accomplished nothing and was just a waste of recourses that could be directed to fighting shara... So finishing this gen by helping a monster instead and the monster actually thanking you and then leaving "that is implied to result in it going out and probably fighting more curio" is the best possible ending we could have gotten

My favorite part about this cutscene is when you see it for the first time, the malzeno has all the broken parts from when you just fought it. My friend who I was playing with first pointed it out to me when he said the tail was still cut

Malzeno is such an peak in terms of design. A vampire noble in its standard form when it's infected by Qurio, and a noble knight in its primal, uncorrupted form. I personally love Shagaru Magala and Nergigante, but in terms of design, I really have to give it to Malzeno

In a way, we saved a mighty Paladin from the temptations of the devil, being Gaismagorm and the Quirio. Godspeed Primordial Malzeno, may your tales of us reach the hearts and minds of other monsters...

Bro this is why monster hunter is such a great franchise, the many stories, the characters (wyveria, human, even the monsters) all have such an important role and even if this series has had its up and downs, mostly ups, it will always be an incredible series, and as many have said, seeing Malzeno free and returning as a true guardian of peace and flying into the sunset, just wow

Malzeno wasn't evil all along. We save this certain one from the Qurio's corruption, which formerly turned individuals of the species into what we know as a "normal" Malzeno (could be considered as a risen elder now that I think about it) and lead to the Kingdom's destruction 50 years ago. We've now slayed these remnants of the Qurio and saved a piece of this species, if not the whole, from becoming the monster we knew before. A very poetic end to Elgado's story. We saved a paladin knight from the archdemon's plague.

So instead defeat the all mighty dragon, we save him from corruption, glad to know, i haven't played mhr sunbreak but this is a good ending, i only played mhw so this might be my next adventure.

I love how Primordial becomes one of the top tier elder dragons, not by some gimmicky element or special power, but by simply brute forcing his way to the top with physical power and skill like Nergigante. Pure badass.

Out of respect, I’ve decided that I’m never gonna slay a Primordial Malzeno. I don’t care how good his armor or weapons are.

This is honestly makes me love the franchise even more. A lot people say that monster hunter is about saving nature from its self but in actuality nature is fine ether way. It’s honestly more about the humans and their understanding of the creatures they live alongside with, which can apply to us in the real world. By grossly exaggerating the presents of an elder or monster of high risk the guild and mpcs always assume “yep that monster is the issue, kill it” and melzeno is a perfect example of this. Melzeno if anything was keeping the citadel and the ecosystem in check, only with its death the citadel turns into a lifeless graveyard. The guild just assumes and then has to face the consequences later when a crap ton of Qurio are released and are free to drain everything. This also applies to our world, when a key stone species is taken out of an environment very notable effects happen to the environment. Sharks are a good example of this, despite being called man eaters by the internet and killed for their fins they keep check of the fish and other prey items that feast on the sea grass, when sharks are taken out the prey then will continue to consume the sea grass which then doesn’t allow the grass to grow back and thus leads to ecological collapse. Heck even with things like the rampage only effect humans because they put their village right in front of the red stronghold or etc and then they blame magnamalo. When in actuality they just settled in a bad spot, it’s like set camp in flood plain and then blaming nature because you don’t understand it. Sorrow for the long essay,, just something that came into mind.

When you’ve notice that a original Malzeno looks pretty frail and skinny, and the Primordial looks like it’s eaten, and has body weight. Tells you that the flying leaches are just pest/ parasites.

I love that with Monster Hunter Rise and the Sunbreak Expansion it shows the potential for next entries that take Story more in count.

You know what’s funny? In almost every MH game the big threat is a large monster, but in this game the big threat, and not just of this game but lorewise one of the largest threats the entire MH world has ever faced, comes from one of the smallest creatures; the Qurio.

Malzeno has been the most hype I’ve been over a monster since Gore Magala, and I still loose my mind every time I fit that guy..

I wish capcom gave us that theme that plays at the end. It’s just so heroic and fits Primezeno so well

During the end cut scene, it's like it was saying "thanks" to them for saving it from the control of the quero, I look forward to saving it in my go around

Why do I get the feeling that in either MH6 or the eventual MH7 that we are gonna have someone on our side that's a rider, and we can do quests for him to help him get eggs so the monster he rides changes? Or maybe we can somehow end up with gameplay of base monster hunter, but when we do enough damage with our monstie we can hop on and fight the monster that way?

I think it's a bummer the "let's kill the qurio and save Malzeno !" part wasn't actually playable, I was so ready to play but eh, it's still a very nice and satisfying ending !

I knew it. Just like rise’s logo hinting at the final boss, sunbreak’s logo hinted at the final boss too.

so it's true then, Malzeno without quiros he's like an angel watching all over the kingdom until the quiros corrupt him. we actually need more MH that the quest is not to slay but save a monster or fight with monster just like Leshen in world where pukei fights with geralt.

A little fun fact about this cutscene is whatever broken parts Primordial Malzeno sustained during its fight against you in this specific quest, will show up in this cutscene, like the chipped off horn from breaking its face and a missing tail spike from cutting its tail are very noticeable. Watching the cutscene via the gallery again will only show the version that has no broken parts.

the ending where malzeno flew off into the distance with its theme sounding more somber and somewhat heroic without the choirs gives that feeling of Frisson i needed to end this monster hunter entry. Bravo capcom

Monster hunter is probably the only game where monsters your actively trying to kill has got some tragic backstory Malzeno was like a knight, a guardian of the kingdom, he protected it from gaismagorm and successfully did, but in a process got corrupted and in doing so destroyed the kingdom it protects and the person it protected was now killing him because of misunderstanding

Primordial Malzeno’s my favorite monster of all time! Not only is it a spectacular fights, it’s also the Nergigante of Rise Sunbreak. Because they serve as a part of nature’s balance mechanism.

Plot twist : Normal Malzeno is actually a Risen Primordial Malzeno.

It's a crime the future hunts didn't keep the Dusk effect, it made the hunt so much cooler, the absence of wild monsters too. :(

I really love monster hunter, and in recent years, it has become a better mirror for nature. It's not a game where you poach innocent creatures. it's where you protect the balance of nature by saving the needy and slaying the root of destruction to save the world

This is why I like the good version of malzeno.

The ending music and primordial Mal flying into the sunset is exactly what you call sunbreak

And so this horror show flys off out into the world to terrorize us in the next game.
