Hello Jayda, I'm very excited for the February stitch. I'm all in making 3. blankets this time. You make this so much fun. The crochet group at the senior center I attend enjoy the projects when I take them in and a couple of ladies are trying the 2017 blanket still. my strips for January were a little weak looking but the new strips really show how beautiful these are going to be and you really make it easy to follow and so much fun. I am also following along with your calender blanket again. I found the last pattern stitching was mind boggling even though it was easy and quick but to remember the placement of the stitches threw me off a bit but I got through it. I like this pattern a little bit better and I also was going to put a divider row between my patterns so that I could see the details better and i am doing each pattern in a rainbow pattern and back again. I am making it into just a sampler blanket like I did with the 2017 blanket. Something that I can switch out from time to time if I get bored with it or I might just put it on another piece of furniture at the same time but either way It will be nice to spruce up my living room without too much other decor or knickknacks. Very Nice idea for this one. I do so love the Victorian Era. I love all the gowns they used to wear. See you again next month. I am also gonna add the separator row too unless you are gonna change to something else. I too am stash busting for this blanket and I did also for the 2017 blanket but I did buy only 1 small skein of yarn for it other wise everything else was scraps.

This is a beautiful stitch, Jayda! I enjoyed learning it. I am thinking about using it to make a runner for the top of my piano. I was wondering if a verigated yarn would work for any of the stitches you plan to teach? As you know, sometimes a stitch pattern can get lost in a busy yarn. What are your thoughts on this for this project? Thanks!

Hi Joy, I think variegated might be a bit too busy for most of the stitches in this project, mainly because we want the stitch to be visible and like you say, some variegated yarns can steal the spotlight!

I wanted to ask if you had a video about the way you hold your yarn, it's very unusual but similar to the way I used to hold it, I used to hold the yarn going from the back of my hand between my pointer and middle finger and I would hold my work with my thumb and ring finger and it really just became to painful, from watching your videos it looks like you are holding the yarn the same way only you use your middle and ring finger ... anyway I discovered wrapping around my pointer finger and holding my work now with my middle finger really helped my hand not hurt anymore. I've seen all sorts of ways people do this but yours seems the most fascinating to me lol. Thanks

Hi Tracy, I am self taught (I came from knitting and tatting) so the way I hold my yarn just evolved. I'm always quick to tell people that however they find holding their yarn the most comfortable and effective is what's right for them. But if at any time we start feeling pain or cramping, it's always a good idea to try and change things up!
