The passing of IFP founder, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has left the surviving community of the Boipatong Massacre numb.
With many still searching for healing, amid the trauma which continues to haunt them three decades later.
SABC Senior News Reporter Canny Maphanga filed this report.

Oneday i came across a video on tiktok. This Sotho was saying Zulus have always been traitors and he referred to the IFP Boipatong massacre. And i say to myself how can he say that because more Zulus were killed by the IFP in KZN townships than Sothos anywhere. The Sotho logic boggles my mind

Don't make this a tribal thing. BaSotho don't all think the same the same way amaZulu don't think the same. "Sotho logic" sounds very condescending and not really helping, given the tensions around this matter. The problem is that some people tribalise the actions of the IFP. The IFP Itself forcefully associated Zulu identity with IFP identity but many Zulu speakers resisted that idea. The divide between ANC and IFP led to killings but outside KZN the members of the party or affiliates at that time simply killed non-Zulu speakers. It was really bad but it's not a specifically Zulu thing.

To be honest with you, IFP under his leadership killed innocent people. Shell house in Johanbesburg CBD the was a lot if blood shed. Mzimhlophe hostel IFP members were killing innocent people. People had to abonden their homes because tgey didn't want to die. Pimville Zone 3 next to blue flame Nancifield hostel dwellers were attaching innocent residents. I remember when they chopped a 1 year old baby girl's foot because her mother was trying to protect her child. People were shot with self made guns. 😂😭😭😭😭 I don't think this man will ever be easily forgiven by the families who lost their loved ones. People who were using trains to go to work were brutally murderd and throw of the train while the train was moving. New Canada, Nancefield, Dube, Nhlanzana, Merafe station it was really happening. Just the thought of this makes me to cry. Most of the IFP members under the leadership of Mr. Gatsha Buthelezi were hearrtless. 😭😭😭😭 We lost family members. Children because orphans. Yoh!
