Prince Philip planned 'every detail' of his funeral, says Archbishop of Canterbury

Saturday's order of service has been in the planning for more than 25 years, says the Most Rev Justin Welby.
"It is thoughtful and I think people listening to the service, watching it on TV will find it speaks very deeply to their own hearts," he says.
Mr Welby will give a blessing during the service at St George's Chapel in Windsor.

Welby has said some dreadful things that do not show him to be a genuine Christian, particularly in his position. It's protocol that he is closely involved with the royal family but I doubt very much whether the Queen regards him all that highly.

I’ve just watched another interview with the Archbishop and l’ve been very impressed by his words and character. He has a deep insight into the RF and it’s so nice to hear these stories about the Duke (which l can trust are real and not for publicity’s sake like others).

Whilst the Royal Family was at first cautious in blessing this marriage in 1947, the Duke of Edinburgh has shown his metal consistently since then as a most worthy consort. His short naval career cast him always as an operational leader , even if he respectfully walked 'two steps' behind the queen publicly. The Lord God has honoured the will of the British people in their call of "God save the Queen": The extraordinary longevity of her husband also. Together they are instrumental in blessing and holding together a family at home which extends globally through the Commonwealth of Nations, and for the general good of the public through the Christian Faith. The Queen & Prince Philip are foundation stones of the free world in their time..Prince Philip's funeral again demonstrated a life of service, a risen saviour, and love eternal. It showed great dignity which belongs to every human being.

I planned my funeral when I was in my 20s because one never knows when one's time on this mortal coil will end. I'm now in my 50s and I still have my funeral planned down to the hymns, what I want said (definitely not a eulogy), the Scripture text and the sermon, plus the hymn I want at my graveside. With covid these days and the lockdowns which will happen in the future, I may not get the funeral I want, but ho hum, I've planned it anyway!

I know what i will wrote is weird, but i have to. I know Phillip was i Prince consort, but, before that fact, he was a man, a navy man,a husband, a father, a grand father, a great grand father. I'm sure the constraints of Covid lockdowns were a blessing in disguise for the family: a simple, uncluttered, solemn, but mercifully slim service, and outside: lots of ceremonial and military embellishments, without the clutter of crowds and distant relatives - who could all attend in their own way via TV. Only 1 or 2 reservations: I felt sorry for the pall-bearers having to make the prolonged pause on the steps of the Chapel - it looked agonizing - and I found the firing of assorted cannon a bit random and unnecessary. There were plenty of more relevant and impressive reminders of Phillip's connections to, and attachment to the military - an ample sufficiency indeed.

Archbishop please speak out tomorrow and tell the truth that the only way to Heaven is in trusting in Jesus Christs life and death and that Hell is real and that the greatest thing is to have trust in Jesus Christ. Also that COViD has been permitted by God because the western world has declared war on God and rejeceted the 10 commandments. We need to repent and as nations and individuals start obeying the 10 commandments and trusting in Christ. Otjerwise hell will be our portion after death.

The military are all on annual salaries as are the police and clergy. The Royal family will have paid for the coffin and other expenses. Prince Philip paid for the Landrover. So nothing.

@@GoodbyeMrChips-do2fl The monarchy isn't funded by the taxpayers. The Queen surrenders the entire income of the private Crown Estate to the Treasury. In return she gets the Sovereign Grant, which is about 20 percent of the income. The Treasury keeps the balance, about £320 million a year. The fact is that The Queen gives money to the taxpayers.

It isn't taxpayers money, that is such a common and ignorant misconception. The monarchy is funded by the Sovereign Grant which is 20 percent of the income of the private Crown Estate. The government keeps the balance which is more than £300 million a year. The fact is that The Queen gives money to the taxpayers.
