"Purple Rain"is my favorite song cause it's just so damn powerful! "Purple Rain" the movie kicks ass as well! The book "Let's Go Crazy"by Alan Light is a great read and reveals alot of interesting facts about the movie and the man himself!

I remember back in the 80's prince played at the Providence Civic Center here in Rhode Island when he was really famouse from Little Red Corvette and 1999. At that concert my brother Chris ( who has since passed away ) had his gold chain ripped and stolen from the front of his neck. Whoever did it had long finger nails because my brother needed 3 stitches to close the gap.... We never held it against Prince, love his 1999 song.. Rest In Peace The Formerly Artist known as Prince! I went and saw Prince in concert. And I'll never forget what he said. The meaning behind Purple Rain. If you think about it it makes a lot of sense when you listen to this song. When there's blood in the sky red and blue equals purple. Purple Rain to the end of this world and being with the one you love and letting your faith God guide you threw the Purple Rain.

Great video, Scott! That purple fence was great. I got a little emotional when you showed his symbol on the bridge. I had no idea that there are that many of the stars at the First Avenue club with all the bands & solo artists incl. Nirvana. (I didn't know they played there.) Loved this one, Scott. Too bad you couldn't have stayed another night to see & feel the vibe inside the club + see a couple other clubs that Prince enjoyed. I enjoyed the last video on Prince Scotty. Was happy to see Prince’s homes which I will never see in person and Paisley house with the beautiful costumes, guitars and stages etc. This video so cool too. The house from Purple Rain did look very sad but hopefully will be lit up with lights with tributes to Prince. The fence painted purple was such a good idea. The wall with the stars so nice. So many artists performed there. I recognised a few names but was excited to see Midnight Oil and INXS there. Peter Garrett besides being a member of Midnight Oil,an Activist and a former Politician in Australia. Michael Hutchence on INXS passed away in Sydney but buried in LA. Very sad. The wide-shot 'Lake Minnetonka' scenes were shot near the town of Henderson, in Sibley County, the only Minnesota scenes not shot in Minneapolis. I still get a hoot out of the background of the scene where the The Kid pulls up to the curb where his mother sits weeping and you catch a glimpse of palm trees above the roofline of a house across the street.Clearly not shot on Snelling Avenue.The only palm tree I ever saw in Minnesota was the one that grew inside the Como Park Conservatory in St.Paul.

I mean I begged my mother to take me to see the movie and I even remember the commercials coming on TV and finally she relented and we went....I wished I could have gone to those concerts back in the 1980s--those were big things--but I was too young at the time and the tickets were reasonably priced. I must have owned about 6 copies of Purple Rain sealed...I even paid 20.00 for the VHS tape back in 1987.
