Certainly not the greatest vocalist...or performer. Greatest vocalist is arguable... Best performer...MJ or even Tina Turner. I'd argue Stevie wonder was a better song writer... Of course Babyface Quincy and McCartney should be included. My fav guitarist definitely. Mix it all together though and sure I'll say the greatest overall artist.

I sadly was not there but this is the aftershow he did after Wembley Stadium on July 31st, 1993, and I WAS at that one - around 8 rows from the stage - bloody brilliant. @@stevepolius436 Imlet the "learnt" slide because, well, that's how you say it when you mean it BUT then you went "Jimmy"...nah dog, not okay...it's Jimi...and you should know that...now that you have been properly chided, I agree with you...Hendrix was a little more otherworldly...you can't really guess either of their next notes but when you hear Prib=nces you say "oh okay, damn!" but with Jimi his next notes change your molecular chemistry. Love em both but if an alien had invaded and we had to send our best guitarist to survive, the human race would owe our survival to Jimi.

He's good. Mostly attitude and showmanship. Nothing remarkable on the guitar. Average solos. Oh, I'll be hated on for saying this, but mostly by non-musicians.
@imstarz91235 ай бұрын
Here's one thing that's for certain though.... Whether you think he's great or not is irrelevant. He is better than you are as a musician. And he touched a level you'll never reach. THAT'S why you don't get it. And I've sold more than you have too so I'm not just talking shit. If you pay attention, he could play anything. You wouldn't survive a Paisley session or jam. I can tell by that comment. Move along and disrespect other people. I'm chiming in if they can't defend themselves. I hope whatever is going on in your life gets better. Because only a person who hates their life will write stuff like that on a dead person's video. I hope one day you feel better inside and become a better person. Dead people can't clap back. But those who knew them can! Happy New Year. Be better in 2024

You forgot to mention the music, which is what most people want to hear. In that respect, his playing is beyond remarkable. That technical playing stuff that a lot of guitarists are known for gets old and mechanical after only a few minutes of listening. Prince could play any of that non-musical crap the other so-called, "Greatest Guitarist" played. But fortunately, he was more interested in the music, not guitar noise.
