It seems quite likely that domestic travel in Canada will resume earlier than international travel, and many Canadian travellers I’ve spoken to have said that they’d love to spend some time this summer and fall exploring our own backyard.

Also safe to assume that you're Zone 1 each time when you go to board? Or zone 2? * Just applied for this last week (great timing with the video) and was approved. Waiting for it to come. Can't wait! I fly WestJet a lot and have done so for easily 10+ years (flying at least 6+ times a year) so getting this card is long overdue.

I have this card. We travel at least once annually between Toronto and Vanvouver and/or Victoria so it really works for us. But, they do charge for a second card, so that eats away at some of the benefits.

I tried using the companion voucher Toronto-Gatwick return, but the base was always less than $399, so the voucher was useless.

Well, the catch here is "first passenger must pay full fare". However, such full fares are often close to 2x regular restricted fares, with this airline some other. Not as good as it seems.

There aren’t too many creative ways to book all inclusive, so a fixed-value points card like the Scotia Gold Amex or Scotia Passport would be my recommendation.

Both have the same transfer partners. The Privilege is great if you can justify the $399 annual fee, as it lets you book premium cabins directly at 2cpp!

Prince of Travel the AF of $ 399is pretty hefty. I’ll go for the avion infinite instead. Because the other day while attending your live I mentioned that I have the RBC Cathay Pacific visa platinum and someone brought to my attention that I’d better get the Avion which has multiple airlines partners as opposed the RBC Cathay Pacific visa .Plus I have already the Amex platinum with its crazy AF of $ 700...but I’m going to keep it. It’s AF kicks in in about 3 weeks lol

Am I doing something wrong? Everytime I try to use the companion voucher they charge equivalent in “air transport charges” so I really only save $100 at most. Unless I fly premium seats but that’s all the savings for the trip.

Sorry to say, but your example @10:03 where your ticket from Vancouver to Montreal was $125 each, is now closer to $550. So I would argue that with the no advanced warning WestJet Dollars loyalty program is one of the worst loyalty programs and the RBC credit card is not one I would encourage people to put any spend on.

@@poopinawoodbox It depends where you want to travel to. Spending $10,000 on the WestJet card no longer gets you a free flight. Instead get an Aeroplan card and your $10,000 spend should get a free flight. Other credit cards that are great include Amex Cobalt (5x points per $ at grocery), Alaska Air - only 1x points, but free flights start at 5K. Premium Aeroplan credit cards or Amex Platinum can also be good. I put the new WestJet card at the bottom of the list with the changes this fall.

@@poopinawoodbox Vegas can be so cheap to fly to, in 2010 I got there for $85 each way from Vancouver. So if you can find a cheap flight like that, any cash back card would be better. However the companion ticket on the RBC card is good, so use the card for the companion ticket, then put it into your sock drawer. Pretty well every other travel rewards credit card is now better. Amex Cobalt is good for grocery spend. Alaska or Aeroplan credit cards are also good for Canadians who want to travel.

Waited almost 2 month to get my westjet dollar, everytime calling RBC some guy from India answer the call after 45min on hold and no one could resolve the issue. When I signed up the card it says companion voucher suppose to be free for the first time use but they still charged me $119 and RBC couldn't do anything about it. Canceling the card as of today.
