At 5:15 it shows Diana's favorite room. That is the only room that shows her homey style. It was pretty obvious she was limited on what she could do in terms of decorating but she made that room the most welcoming.

C. Hay Yes, prior to 1917, the members of the British Royal Family did not have a surname; but, they were members of the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Queen Elizabeth's father, King George VI, was born in 1895 as a member of the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. According to some accounts the name change was due to the fact that it sounded too German. The Windsor family shouldn't be the royal family. It belongs to Michael Edward Abney-Hastings, Britain's Real Monarch. I particularly find English history fascinating because my 18th Great Grandmother, Margaret DeMowbray, Dutchess of Norfolk (1399-1459) is also Anne Boleyns great great grandmother. Anne Boleyn is my 3rd cousin 16 generations removed. I also have in my family line John (Beaufort of Gaunt) Plantagent, 1st Duke of Lancaster, he was my 19th great grandfather.

The style & decor is from the 80' & 90's which was nice at that time. I liked Princess Diana's sitting room, which looked super cozy and surrounded with all her little treasures (nic-nacs) and books. I can certainly relate to that. I loved it.

Considering the apartment decoration dates back to the 80s, I permit myself to gasp for air for the complexity of colour intermingling, awful decor, terrible curtains and, for a woman mother of two, still owning an unexplicable amount of cuddly toys.

@Logan Jones. You are repeating the same old thing, over and again....... SHE loved Charles but all he wanted was an heir and a spare..... No. Diana married a man 13 years her senior, who was serious, hardworking, rather boring, not very handsome, and going bald........ WHY would she do that? Because Diana, the unhappy third daughter of a father who NEEDED A BOY to inherit his title and estate....... (Downton Abbey ring any bells?) Diana was unloved and neglected. So, like a lot of other very beautiful and charming women, she found herself a man who was older, important, rich, and with prospects. BUT, because of the circles in which Diana moved, the man that SHE wanted to marry........ the rich famous balding, 13-years-older Man....... was the man who would one day be King of England, and make HER Queen of England. All she had to do was be NICE and Patient..... Diana wasn't either of those things. And Charles was serious, boring, balding, and not even a good dancer. Emily Lange says "Her only loves we're her two boys"..... And Barry Manakee, and Oliver Hoare and James Hewitt and Theodore Forstmann and JFK jnr and James Gilbey, and Wiil Carling, and Bryan Adams and another young man who will remain nameless, and Mr Hasnat Khan and Dodi Fayed. But of course this promiscuity was all the fault of Charles, who had returned to his previous mistress in 1986, (2 years after Diana's relationship with Manakee) and has been with the same woman ever since. One has to ask the question....Why was Diana so MISERABLE in that family? 1. Was it because the Queen objected to the way that Diana would pass her in the corridors of Buckingham Palace, and not even say "Hello!" let alone "Good Morning, Ma'am!"? 2. Was it because Charles' adoring old Granny, who was so happy to have Diana marry her best friend's gran-daughter....... got cross, when she spent the whole of Christmas sulking and refusing to join in the games and dances and charades? 3. Was it because Margaret, who welcomed her warmly, then cut her dead, when Diana played up to Margaret's charming husband? 4. Was it because Fergie overheard what Diana said about her overweight and her lack of style? 5. Was it because the exceptionally hard-working Princess Royal thought she was a fraud? 6. Was it because she dismissed forty members of the palace staff (yes 40!!) 7. Do you think that maybe she didn't fit in because she kept blabbing to the media about matters that were private? *. Do you think anyone was offended with her, when they discovered she was sleeping with her detective, her equestrian trainer, her best friend's husband and that she was the Toast of the Officers Mess at Wellington Barracks?

I personally don't like it, I visited many times the mansions in RI USA, and there look way better as picturing the late 19 and 20 centuries wealth, all of course representing the Victorian era. I thought Diana was more modern taste like, but I guess not, she was old soul as well. I like to see it, but I would not like to live in a place with old fornitures. Maybe a mixture of them with contemporary.

A lot of people will not appreciate the decor. But old world/old money like this Victorian style. It has a certain charm. When I was in London with my daughter, most hotels looked like this. They didn’t have mod hotels (if there were, I never saw one) and even their taxi cabs are kept to have the vintage look. They like to preserve the past as seen in practically most of their architecture. This style is very English. Personally I think, it s quite elegant.

I still see million, two million dollar houses in a ritzy part of my city, that are decorated in mauve, mauve and green plaids, and florals and ugly dated color schemes from decades ago, but, these rich people pay a lot of money back then to get their houses decorated and then they're too busy paying the taxes on the mansions and for the county we live in, and they don't think the decor is bad, but, when time comes to sell the houses, this is what is shown on real estate websites, and they are way worse than what we saw in Princess Diana's apartments.

Jean Koller ... who's to say? All I can say is this man put himself out there in a way no employee ever has whilst being in the employ of the royal family, except for Crawfie, the nanny to the queen and her sister when they were both princesses. She wrote a book of their lives as children and she was shunned by the family, not even sending a wreath to her funeral. She was never mentioned again. Burrell may have been a great support to Diana but he made a damn good living off her death and his association to her.

I know, right!? We're used to only seeing the grand palaces from the outside. I guess once you move in all the family, their spouses, their children, and their dogs, the available space gets divided up pretty quickly. That staircase looked pretty grand though, I feel like these images might not really offer it justice. EDIT: The pictures do not do it justice... here's what wikipedia had to say about apartments 8 & 9: "Apartments 8 & 9 are two conjoined chambers situated on the northern-most section of the main palatial building. The apartment covers three storeys. During its use as a residence, the two-room nursery covered the entirety of the top floor; other spaces included two reception rooms: a drawing room doubling as Diana's office, a sitting room with a television, and a formal dining room... The residence had a helicopter pad, and many outdoor gardens, including one on the roof and a greenhouse..."

The video is very nice, but the photos are taken from Paul Burrell's book, so of course the quality isn't going to be up to "professional" standards. The decor is typical of the English upper class circa the 1980's and 90's. Much of the furnishings are indeed royal "hand-me-downs", and are antiques. The colours definitely match Diana's personality, and as someone who was fortunate to meet her, I find her home just as charming as she was in person.

Photos were not the only thing that Paul Burrell took after Diana's death. And, actually, very little re-decoration was done after the divorce. Most of what you see here was Diana's choice and was her style, The large Appartment was totally refurnished and redecorated at a huge cost back then...when they first married. The KP Apartment was their London home and it was always Diana's preferred choice. Highgrove was the home-Charles always favoured.
