I guess I like watching and seeing all the Royals. Margaret, I know her story - Bohemian and lived quite unhealthily, plus the incessant smoking. I really didn't mind because I'd rather watch The Queen and her accomplishments.

She was beautiful. I loved watching the Crown, especially the episodes that focused on her and her relationships. Peter Townsend was just as handsome as the actor who played him. I can see how they fell for each other.

I have to agree. It started out about Margaret. Then someone forgot what the documentary was supposed to be about. They went another direction. It was duty to her sister and the continuation of the Crown. Princess Margaret's uncle's King Edward VIII abdication rocked the very foundation of the Royal family another major royal member giving up position for marrying a divorcee would have had Republicans wanting the abolition of the Royal family itself, people had been through wars and poverty and were potentially angry enough to do away with royalty as they had in other European countries. The Italian royal family was ended in a referendum in 1946 so it was indeed a threat.

Exactly......I feel bad to a extent for her but the truth was Margret was a Spoilt , vain Entitled , snobbish Brat of a Women who could not stand the Idea of being Just another Middle class suburban housewife or 'Commoner" like the rest of us. That is why she gave Townsend up, I think the queen said she could still participate in family holidays and get togethers but of course if she married him she would have to give up her royal titles and privileges .......so she chose royal titles and privilege over the so called 'love of her life" if you truly love a person you will follow them anywhere.

She was patron or president of 80 organisations many of them are concerned with activities for young people, children's well-being and caring for sick people. She was president of the National Society and of the Royal Scottish Society for the prevention of cruelty to children. She made many official overseas visits representing the queen on numerous occasions. She also opened British fairs and trade promotions... Even Princess Diana many times said that Margot does a wonderful job for the crown...

It's not that heartbreaking. She was offered the chance to marry Peter, but she was gonna lose her titles and privileges. She chose the privileges. I think that she just loved seeing herself as a victim when in reality she was an extremely privileged woman who always did as she wanted.
