I kinda blame her parents for that. Her mother looks like the evil Catarina so maybe it was all of that which should've raised her into a villianess if not for her previous life flooding back to her along with her personality.

I honestly think that she's still that little girl. Only she remembered her past that's why the sudden personality change. In the novels, even before she hit her head, little katarina knows that her parents are aloof with one another. Also, part of her current personality seems to stem from family. Her obliviousness for example is a trait that she clearly got from both her parents. And her down to earth attitude, the way she treats the staff, i.e the gardener, the head maid, and anne seems to come from her late grandfather. The former duke claes and the gardener would often disguise themselves and go in the town to hang out. Katarina's grandfather also appreciates gardening as well. That's why i don't believe that the spoiled katarina and our bakarina are separate people. She simply remembered.

I think that she is still technically the same person though, and she isn't wiped out of existence - it's just that this time Catarina remembers her past life and decided to change for the better.

She was reincarnated as Catarina eight years before she hit her head, she just didn't have access to her previous life's memories until the head trauma forced them to the surface.
