Күн бұрын

Trev's back out on Dartmoor, for a circular walk from Princetown downloaded from Viewranger, visiting some new tors and old, and touching on a classic Dartmoor Legend.
This easy to follow 9 mile circular walk follows the tracks around the Walkhampton Common area out of Princetown, weaving in around tors such as Kingstor, Foggintor Quarry and Swell Tor, with views of the fantastic tors of Merrivale, Middle and Great STaple, Roos Tor and Great Mis Tor. Then its heading out over Ingra Tor, where views of the Sheepstor area come into sight, (including Leather Tor and Sharpitor) then across the B3212 where we walk alongside the Devonport Leat and the River Meavy to take in two new Tor's, Black Tor and Hart Tor. And we stop off for a Dartmoor legend along the way!

Looked a bit boggy and very quiet but good to see you still getting out, been miserable Up North lately, which is a shame. Good to hear it was the best day in 2 weeks for you, on our good day for 2 weeks, I was sniffling and sneezing for whimped out of a Lakes trip 😷. Quite a few stone bridges there, which tied in well with the Dartmoor legend and the hairy hands! You should never have mentioned what a glorious day it was at the start lol, although, it could have been a lot worse. Nice walk out, cheers Alan

Trev, you are a pro 👍 Great recording and editing, the musical accompaniment was just right👌 Dartmoor in places looks like an alien landscape but this time of year a diverse contrast in colours. I suspect as winter sets in, the number of walkers will dissipate with only a few hardy souls braving the inclement weather on exposed tors. During such bad weather it's great to find shelter and respite in a deciduous copse, conifer wood or behind a stone wall. Stay safe atb Taff 🤠
@SummitOrNothing
@SummitOrNothing 3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Taff. Yea this was a different side to Dartmoor, alright, and it does look alien. In fact Foggintor quarry reminded Narh and myself of Magrathea from the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy lol. It was surprisingly busy this day, but I guess it was a dry day pigeon holed in between some really wet weather Cheers for watching

I know, such a shame, but to be honest, I am kind of hoping that our government will do something similar whilst the numbers are so high - I can see the west country getting inundated with visitors for half term (which they are on about extending for some strange reason!) I think we should all stay close to home for the time being, perhaps not locking down but not travelling so much! Anyway, moan over... stay safe mate! This will all be a blip on the horizon one day!

Broad Falls is not that bad! Follow the treksandtors guide to get there and you'll have a much more enjoyable walk. You can then follow the small valley up above to Red Lake Tip (it is boggy around Red Lake though). Or you can retrace your steps back to the clapper bridge and up towards the Puffy Billy track and pick up either the Zeal Tor tramway or follow the high ground to Eastern White Barrow and head back down to Shipley Bridge.
