In this Excel tutorial, you'll learn how to set the print area in Excel to print only the part of the spreadsheet that you need.
Excel's default print settings don't always print the way you would like.
Especially if your sheet contains a lot of data that you don't necessarily need in your final, printed document.
One of Excel's essentials, the Set Print Area feature lets you specify the exact cells to be printed.
The example sheet that we walk through in this tutorial has 2 parts: a data set and a chart.
You'll first see how to set the print area to print only the data set.
We then walk through the 3 options for how to change the print area. You can select from:
1. Set the Print Area - which will reset any existing print area settings
2. Clear the Print Area - which will clear the print area to default print settings or
3. Add to Print Area - which will expand your existing print area to include any new cells you select.
If you need to print only a portion of your spreadsheet, you’ll need to know how to set your print area.
