Printhead Replacement on Epson Expression Home XP and WF-25xx/26xx - Printer Repair

In this video I'll perform a printhead replacement on an Epson Expression Home XP-302. The procedure is the same on all the Expression Home series, several WorkForce printers (WF-25xx, WF-26xx ecc.) and some others.
The entire repair process is pretty simple.
↓ Tools and things needed ↓
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Paper towels (Can be useful)
- Latex Gloves (Suggested)
- Of course, the Printhead
The printhead code depends on the printer you're using. Even if the procedure to replace it is the same, it doesn't mean it's the same part code. Check or ask me the part code before attempting any repair.

Thank you for your informative video, my own printer had stopped printing black, despite using a head cleaning kit, it didn't help, so after watching your video, I dismantled the printhead and then cleaned it, after replacing, it printed as good as new.

Grandissimo video, si applica anche al modello XP-247, grazie. Ciononostante la testina col nero "clogged" non la liberi più, perlomeno io non ci sono riuscito con nessuna soluzione di isopropilico+acqua demineralizzata calda o quasi bollente, ugelli chiusi cementati.

The only way you can fit a new head to these printers is if you have the Epson adjustment program software. You need to enter the mac address of the new head using the software ( on the white sticker at the bottom as seen in the video). If you don't tell the printer the new 10 digit address, the printer will show a print head error so you are no further forward unfortunately.

Thank you for this tutorial video, i have a printer xp 352 the problem during printing is all letters and numbers are doubled. What probably the problem with my printer? I did printing allignment and cleaning but nothing happened.

Hi I have been working on an Epson XP405 printer / scanner, while removing the printer head. I accidentally dislodged the rear and removed the ribbon from behind the carriage. Do you have any tips on replacing it to its home slot? I was wondering if there is any way to remove the carriage to replace the cable to its rightful place then replacing the carriage, so I could proceed on the repair. I am trying to keep the printer out of the environmental tip, so any advice would be gratefully excepted.

Wished i watched your video first - i removed the cable at the back but i dont know which way the cable goes back in ie blue part facing towards the print head or the blue part facing towards the paper feed side ??????

My Expression XP-5100 doesn't have the white tab for releasing the printhead carrier??????

Hi! Not every printer has that and sometimes it's in a different position, I suggest you turn the power on and then when the head moves/unlocks you pull the power cord from the wall :)

Hi I have the epson Expression Home XP5105 and red cartridge is just unrecognisable tried everything the others work ok so I came to the conclusion to replace the cartridge holder board instead can you tell me where to buy please

Can you help me? I have an Epson XP-235 and nothing is where you are showing it on the video. There is a flat cable under the cartridges behind a clear cover and I can't see any clips holding the contact board in. :( I am desperate at this point.

Hi! That printer in Italy does not exist XD I have a video on the Epson SX125 and SX130 that are so similar, but I don't replace the entire printhead, just remove the scanner and uncover the printer internals, and unlock the carriage.

I tried to install a new printhead in an Epson ET-2550. everything seemed OK, however I am now getting an error code 0x9E which doesn't indicate the actual problem. Do you have any knowledge of other requirements? Is there some software update to recognize a new printhead?

Hi, pretty good video. Especially how to unfasten the ink carriage. I have 1 question: Are the print heads of the XP- printers, like 435, 455 the same or are there differences?

Hi :) As far as I remember XP-3xx and XP-4xx printheads are the same, for all the models, for the XP-2xx that is not the case, I think all the models before the XP-245 had different heads, then the XP-245 and XP-255 have the same heads of the XP-3xx and XP-4xx. If you want to be extra safe you can check on gedat spare parts site or www.mk-electronic.de/en/eng

Error code: 16 is showing after installing the printhead on my Piezo TC 1800 printer. The printhead is Epson XP600. How can I solve this problem?

I’ve got an XP245. Thanks to this video, I removed my print head! However the black head seems to have a very stubborn blockage. Can I soak the head in cleaning solution overnight? I’m worried about wetting the metal parts

No you can't, for the reason you already said. Inside the head there are exposed electrical parts, if cleaning solution goes onto them it's done for. When you reconnect the printhead you'll blow a soldered fuse on the mainboard and possibly even damage the flat cable :/ there are pretty high voltages on the main power line for the printhead, around 48-50 volts.

Not true at all. Given that you give it a day or two to dry, nothing bad will happen. On the other hand, there is not much chance it will improve anything

A word of warning - I replaced the print head on my XP-322 (looks identical to this one) with one that I saved from an old XP-305 (also looks identical) I had. When I turned it on, it seemed perfectly fine, but when I went to test it, it kept saying 'Please wait. Starting up..', but doing nothing. I turned it off, and when I tried turning it on again, it wouldn't. No sign of life. I'd love to hear if anyone knows if there's any way to fix this. I've read that changing a couple of transistors and the power IC might fix it, but I'm convinced that it's programmed to self-destruct when trying to repair it to force me to buy a new printer. I've had it years without using it too much, and it just seems like too much of a coincidence that it died when I replaced the print head. If I'd known it was going to do this, I'd have just thoroughly cleaned the original print head.

With my XP-400 I can't get that contacts plate off the inside to free up the screws. mine doesn't have those tabs on the side. it's a separate piece but somehow stuck in there. Any ideas?

XP-4xx series have the same tabs, look more carefully.

Hi! Well that is a big pain, you need to guess the position by trying taking it back with tweezers and everything else that can be helpful, you can also use a camera or something to help you see where the connector is located, because it's near the middle of the carriage and you can't remove the whole carriage easily. Hi! That means the printer is in fatal error. Either you got a defective printhead, you connected the flat cable incorrectly, or the flat cable is damaged.

Carissimo non hai più risposto alle domande sulla xp-215..... Continua a lampeggiare non appena inserisco una cartuccia. Se tolgo le cartucce tutto va bene . Cosa potrebbe essere? Problema alla restina dopo che ho fatto una pulizia con le siringhe?

Ciao! Scusami ma pensavo di aver risposto :/ Non proprio alla testina di stampa, penso che sia più probabile che sia un difetto alla scheda madre, alla holder board o al flat che collega le due

@@PaoloMarcelli holder board è quella dove fanno contatto le cartucce? La cosa strana è che tutto è nato dopo il trattamento con il quasar che gli ho fatto per due o tre giorni. Non vorrei che il liquido mi sia andato a finire da qualche parte e abbia rovinato la scheda su cui è andato. Io non mi sono accorto di niente ma magari un eccesso è andato su qualche circuito nelle vicinanze della testina. Ti ripeto prima del trattamento quasar andava benissimo solo problemi al giallo che non funzionava.

Altra cosa che mi hai lasciato in sospeso è il discorso Delle cartucce refillabili. Se puoi fare un video anche su quello è molto interessante. Io ho acquistato da un noto venditore cartucce refillabili per la r200. A livello di chip niente da dire funzionano perfettamente...con mio stupore perché anni fa ne ho provate diverse è sempre avuto problemi. Però questa volta ho una impressione...mancanza di alimentazione della cartuccia alle testine. Quelle che ho acquistato hanno un particolare filtro sull'uscita principale ...e non c'è verso di farle andare bene abile va bene un colore a volte un altro... insomma credo mancanza di alimentazione. Te mi hai detto di mandarti una foto ma su quale mail? Ci sono varie architetture interne? Ma come fare per acquistare se i venditori on line non te le fanno vedere? Fammi sapere se tu potessi fare un video su questo sarebbe interessantissimo ciao

Grazie Paolo. Mi dai una bella mano a risolvere un codice 033001 dopo un prolungato tentativo di pulizia dopo anni di stop. Ovviamente inchiostro finito sulla piattina dei contatti. Senza il tuo aiuto sarebbe stato molto difficoltoso capire come smontare tutto.
