The answer to Ted’s question is this, without the proper guidance and discipline growing up, especially in your youth years, it can shape you for the rest of your life. That doesn’t mean that people who were raised properly won’t eventually end up committing crimes and end up in prison but the chances are drastically reduced. Law enforcement and the prison system is a business and those who profit from being involved in the business aspect of it have no intention on losing business, it’s no different than the weapons manufacturing industry, those involved want violence and war because without it they wouldn’t profit. So if we really want to fix the the problems we need to get to the root which drives them and allows them to persist, locking people in cages obviously isn’t fixing the problem it’s making it worse, if it was working we wouldn’t be building so many prisons and manufacturing so many instruments of death, we need to see the forest through the trees to truly fix these issues.

4:06 I didn't even realize they already had this type of cage barriers where prisoners could interact but it adds a layer of security. They were showing a prison guard in Arizona was brutally attacked by 3 prisoners recently in the open area where the prisoners hang out during the day. they need to have more of these barriers to prevent attacks and also exchanges of contraband. so instead of having solitary confinement isolation, at least with the cage barriers they can come out of their cell and interact.

Amazing blast from the past. Imagine only 2 recognized prison gangs. Boy were they wrong. Today in the American Prison System there are upwards of 30 recognized, organized gangs. The warden would have to have 90% of people in isolation, if this procedure was still flowed. Things change, but people keep doing the same dumb stuff over and over. God Bless, prison is horrible.
