Prison officer interdicted for taking part in protests

A prison warden, Jackson Kuria Kimani, who was interdicted for participating in protests against the government, has spoken out, expressing no regret for joining the demonstrations. Kimani, who is attached to the Kamiti Maximum Security Prison, insists that he did nothing wrong by taking part in the demonstrations to hold the government to account. He was dismissed for violating prison regulations as Ben Kirui reports.

As much as he's patriotic he went to extremes and I think he deserves the interdiction. His blunders were: Protesting in service uniform with words that disgrace the President, & not hiding his face. If he really wanted to spare his job he'd have worn civilians and the cover face and forehead with flag and marvin. However, if he doesn't regret it and he's ready to lose his job, then he deserves even better than a Prison warder.

In the KDF, Police service and other discipline forces who are men and women license to carry rifles we don't demonstrate, picket, do mandamano. If there's any grievances there are ways of channeling. That is why the forces take the oath of Allegiance to be faithful and obedient to the C-in-C and to the republic of Kenya. Despite being a citizen like other citizens men in uniform are not allowed to demonstrate even constitutionally.

There is a reason why grade D+ is important during police recruitment,, if A students are recruited they will be undiscipline knowing that a lot of options are waiting outside.. I think going forward, police recruitment grade should have a maximum of grade D,, so that Police officers take care of their job knowing that's the only option they have..
