Joan is a legend. Even after she does nasty things, it's easy to feel sorry for her.

Maggie Kirkpatrick is one hell of an actress, she played the part of Joan Ferguson so brilliantly. Prisoner was getting a bit tedious at the end of the Vera Bennet era, Maggie brought it back to life and the show was much better when she entered the storyline.

Phenomenal character. I do think in the latter half of Prisoner, there was a tendency to focus too heavily on her and the various failed attempts at bringing her down. However I think that was due to their being a much weaker ensemble cast generally than the Bea and Lizzie era. They had to lean heavily on their strongest player.
