I haven't progressed too much, but I can tell you that I did find a merchant who sold me more INT sorceries and they are pretty good so that stat is worth while. Although most of the interesting weapons I've found so far require some Strength, so be sure to invest a bit on that stat too so you have more weapon options.

Yep, I was a wrech, if you're an enthusiat boss hunter you'll never skip that guy, he actually teaches you a lot about the game, specially about how boss behaves with their combo instances instead of generic static patterns in previous games. Of course he still has static combos but the combat is now much harder to learn. Good fight.

I was like you once! Until I put all my effort into beating Dark Souls 3 and then this series became my favorite games ever and I ended up beating every single game. Elden Ring with it's open world design gives you a lot of freedom to tackle its challenges when you feel ready. So I really encourage you to give the game a shot. If you like watching it you'll love experiencing it. It will be tough at first but that's part of the process and the game's message. If you don't give up you'll be rewarded. And you can always reach out to people like me in the community if you need advice or have any questions.

Advice, stick to his left (shield) side. Until he starts attacking with the shield then stick to his right (axe side) near his head. Roll when he swings. Hit. Roll again. Hit. Roll again. Hit. 4 strong hits should stun him. Jump strong attacks are good for stunning. Use skill to do maximum damage while stunned. Also, you don't need to jump to avoid the shield. Just Roll back at the right time. The shield timing is similar to his axe swing attacks. EDIT: mixed his left with my left

I've learnt to appreciate jump attack on this boss it helps a lot, staggers the boss pretty easy, and also you can jump over some of his attacks, so jump attack is basically a dodge+damage combo. Since then it is like my basic attack :D

i see a common mistake here. lot of players are dodging in wrong way. if the boss attack comes from left - to - right, you should dodge to the left and vice versa. when this boss is charging you with his shield (front - to - back from player perspective), you should roll either to the side or directly to the boss, because if you roll within the direction of the shield bash, you are much more likely to be hit (it is how attack and invicibility frames works). anyway, good job :)

What helps me during these games is, think of the boss fights like a dance. Look for the dance moves and perform your counter move. Then back away and the dance will start again. Sometimes bosses have added moves after their health bar gets to a certain level. Ill even count off sometimes during moves. 1...2.. dodge .. back, attack .. 1 dodge.. Its how my brain is wired. If I think of the fight in steps i can break down the steps and fight back.

Yeah, paradoxically since Dark Souls 3 I've been sticking to rather fast weapons for bosses because a lot of them are extremely fast and give you very small windows for punishing; and then been using heavy weapons for smaller enemies to easily stun them. Nice, the easiest way I've found to get hits on him on this one attack: when he does the little jumping attack and you dodge to the right without attacking, he'll usually follow up with a stab, and if you're on his shield side he'll take fuckin forever to recover from it. I can get either two R2s or three R1s off of it, and sometimes he'll do the hoof attack which depending on the weapon leave an opening for another attack.
