it's simple just twist off the capacitor the connectors are weak on
that type of capacitor. Remember the polarity before you twist it off. Then reuse the plastic base on the old capacitor. Slip the new capacitor in it's place and and bend the leads the plastic base from the old capacitor will make it look better and hold the capacitor flat when soldering. Make sure you use flux core solder... I learned from here pc-restorer.com/repairing-a-ma... and perfected it. If you need help I'll post a video on how I did it.

I am amazed that I desoldered and soldered the new capacitor correctly. Looks like I need to reattach a wire so my fuel gauge works again.

Ok i put a 220 uf and 16 volt capacitor today and still no dash light anything i'm missing ?r should i buy a new cluster?

Did you check if the capacitor that you replaced was broken before you replaced it? sometimes its not the same capacitor. I would double check the polarity and check all the capacitors make sure they are all functional before the new cluster. I'm really hoping that you replace the wrong one and that's why your cluster is not working. Please let me know if you fixed the problem.

What volt is the new capacitor ?

Its a 220uf 16 volt and working tempurature is -40+105°C9...company brand JWCO

Would a 100uf and 200 volt capacitor be too much ? Volts

@@gsrjaycee4521 100uf is too low the one i removed i belive was a 150uf and it tested low about 100uf and cluster wouldn't turn on. so getting to the voltage to my understanding a 200 volt capacitor in a 12 volt system we'll still only get 12 volts I chose a 16 volt because that was the only one available closer to 12 volts.

One can solder too quickly. The solder needs to soak in not float on the top.
