Gregg takes you on an exterior and systems tour of this 48 (and a half) foot bumper pull travel trailer. This is a custom-make rig manufactured by Spacecraft Manufacturing in Concordia Missouri.
The owners of this custom travel trailer are full-time rvers. This is their home. They have chosen the floor-plan, colors, systems, and appliances to their style and liking.

I do believe that spacecraft campers are the best on the planet. Especially since this man likes them. My 45' spacecraft is a working progress as well. Thanks for sharing. p.s I wouldn't go for the solar panels. You will mess up your unpenetrated roof. It would be hard to keep the solar panels from bouncing up and down. Solar panels on your truck might be better.

Wow thanks for all the SpaceCraft videos. I hope they are still in business so I can have a custom rig built. This one was amazing with all its tech way back in 2017. With all the new changes with solar and accessories I hope to make a rig that will never be plugged in anywhere.

Just Stunning!!!! What a truly awesome RV. These nice folks really built an amazing coach. I love many of the features they designed. His power management engineering is awe inspiring. What an intelligent man. The entry stair system StarCraft uses is the best. It's a little more weight and labor intensive but so worth it. A modification to the new Mor-Ride fold up stairs can provide a similar set up featuring the small stoop at the top of the stairs. This can be achieved by a separate fold down platform. Or so it seems in my non-engineering pea sized brain. Two things I dislike about SpaceCraft. One is the ceiling. And the second is their fender skirts. Granted they aren't a production line with millions to spend on R&D annually to update the the model for next year or even half year changes as we see today from some of the biggest RV manufacturers. Additionally it was surprising to see wood framing for the floor. Is the entire unit framed in wood? Yes wood is much better than aluminum for insulating purposes. Aluminum is an unstoppable conductor of heat. Cold days it pulls heat out. On hot days it heats the interior. Therefore it's understandable if the walls and especially the roof is all wood. If so, that certainly explains some of the extreme weight of this rv. Although not extreme considering the length, height, and top tier materials and finishes. This is an "Extreme RV" made to last for the next generation to enjoy. It really is a high-end house on wheels. Not your typical full time rv with a use by date or shelf life of just 10 years. Thank you for taking the time to film and share this video. Additionally thank your friends for me for allowing you to film their beautiful home. This is the most detailed video of a StarCraft I've seen. Most excellent! Cheers from Seattle!

Isn't his power management engineering truly amazing? He could have a second career in design and engineering for the RV industry giants. Better yet he could patent his system and sell it outright for a vast sum or sell licensing rights to manufacturers. His wife would be a great asset for the interior design and engineering department as well. Some stunning and creative aspects are exclusive to this RV. This RV itself is the first of it's kind for StarCraft.

@ryanmosey5932

Just curious if someone can answer this. Could you take say 1-2 Tesla 100 battery packs and wire them up to run a 5th wheel or RV. Just to power the accessories. If you could it could run it for at least a week and this is not counting the solar input too.

Gregg, I’ve been enjoying your videos. Question as to overall length. If your total length (RVHauler and trailer ) is over 65’ and you want to drive it through states that the max length is 65’, what do you do ? You just take a risk of being pulled over by police or you can ask for a special permit ? Sorry I’ve never owned a RV, ant this might be a silly question to ask.
@rvhaulers
@rvhaulers 6 жыл бұрын
Hello, and thanks for the question. Every state has their own rules. There are some NE states that have even shorter overall lengths (50'). Some are longer (80'). Some vary from road to road WITHIN an individual state. There are many standard pickup truck and trailer combinations that are over those lengths. There are even length limits for the trailer itself in some states. Some states require trailers to be 40' or less. It is a conscious decision every traveler has to make. Some folks have chosen to avoid certain locations, while others have traveled for close to 20 years with long rigs - and never had issues.
@timon0x31
@timon0x31 6 жыл бұрын
Assuming the 48’ length is bumper to hitch that leaves 17’ for the Volvo. Looks like it’s longer than 65’.
@rvhaulers
@rvhaulers 6 жыл бұрын
Hello. Actually my understanding is that the coach is 48 feet of living space. Yes, that is a VERY safe assumption it is a bit long. Maybe a bit over 65 feet. I didn't measure it myself, but I would guess it might be 65 feet 80 inches long.
@Ray092684
@Ray092684 4 жыл бұрын
Not all states are limited to 65'. Plus, if he has CDL he won't be limited on total length but rather trailer length, 53'.

Do you find yourself being restricted to many places you can go to? Being so long and tall does it take alot extensive planning on the route you take?
@rvhaulers
@rvhaulers 6 жыл бұрын
Hello Lou. Great question thanks. Folks with longer rigs like this one can quickly determine if a camp-ground can accommodate them. All it takes is a phone call. All the campgrounds know how long their sites are, and the maneuverability within their facility. They are getting more and more long combinations, and have it figured out. Also, we will often use satellite imagery from Google maps to figure things out in advance.

As a truck driver myself and knowing that balance of load is key to good handling. My question is, knowing the trailers you are setting up to pull are nowhere near as heavy as what I pull. By putting the hitch behind the axle and not centered over the drive, does this effect truck handling and what is the reason for not centering the hitch?
